Unfortunately been working on everything but the 40…which still isn’t driveabile due to the stripped caliper bolt and pooched brake rotor.

Wrapped up a changing table topper I built and tried to match to furniture in the new kiddo’s room. This was my first attempt at “real” woodworking. The biggest challenge was definitely trying to stain maple and match the color of the 75+ year old dresser it will sit on.

tried my hand at 2 stroke motor repair so I could get this thing back up and running:

it would run on prime and cut off after about 30 seconds. Picked up a junky $20 carb on Amazon - which had a ferrous steel governor arm that interfered with the magneto - so some fresh fuel lines and cobbling together the old (non-ferrous) throttle/governor assembly off the old carb with the diaphragm and jets from the new, and about 15 min of tuning I now have a 43cc hip destroyer.

Ultimately the auger will bore the holes for a mower ramp that will (finally) wrap up the shed project, which I turn will free up some garage space and (hopefully) get me back to fixing the 40…

Fresh 2.5 OD 7075 links for the rear of the buggy, fresh hubs seals and pinion seal and Kilmat in the larger panels to quiet it a bit inside. Harmonics and long flat sheets of 7075 don't mix.

Now in SoCal for a visit with friends and few days off. Renting house in Long Beach. Woke up this morning and this is in front of the place. The bronco has been here and appears well built, has a 4 speed, twin sticks, 302 badges and evidence of lockers and other proper desert exploring gear. The big coupe showed up this am. Its in very nice shape with acres of leather inside. Can anyone ID it? :)

Mercury Marauder, as noted on the rear.

I think this is one of the most aggressive car names ever.

Definition of marauder

: one who roams from place to place making attacks and raids in search of plunder : one that marauds

Got a bit of a dent in the DS rear quarter on Trail 39 at AOAA during Coal Mine. Tried hard to ignore it for a couple of weeks and kept telling myself "trail rig, let it go" ... I couldn't.

This is after I popped out some of the bottom side with my palm and a rubber mallet

Tried a mini basketball at first ... too round and kept popping out of the space I wedged it into. I think @caz was the person I saw posting about using a football.

Repositioned to get the top side crinkle out

Much better ...

Still has two small dimples near the top, but the tail light is flush again and the bulk of the dent is gone. The Monster Liner held up as well. One downside ... when I went to remove the air line the second time, the ball shifted back and is now stuck inside the quarter panel. I will leave it for some days to see if it deflates enough to pull back out. If not, the ball is a small sacrifice to the wheeling Gods.

Likely ... would like to see about getting some rub bars made for that part of the truck. Seems this is where I am most prone to banging into things as the top area near the sliding windows has been bumped on both sides several times.

Yup. The X100 package was basically a 429, about the same as a Cobra Jet without the CJ name, plus the fender skirts and the 5 spoke aluminum wheels. It started up and went out this morning. Without a doubt it’s a big block, not obnoxious but very proper for that car. So much want :)

Hey guys! Hope everyone and their families are doing well.

Long list, cruiser needed some refreshing. I had all 5 wheels powder coated again, new KO2’s, pulled the cv’s, repacked, new boots, bushings, etc (parts list below). I have to say, I’m unhappy with cruiserparts, not only were the links the wrong size, but the hardware wasn’t oem, looked like cheap China stuff. Ended up ordering oem from my local dealer. Swapped in OME heavies in the rear (thanks @fireball ) and I turned the TB’s for a 2” rake unloaded. Taking her to Moab in October with the family, we can’t wait!

in the 60 and 40 series worlds, those clowns are not held in very high regard....personally, i think they are a bunch of knuckle dragging, lie all but to your face, frauds.

Progress - rocker guards/sliders. . One step closer to being ready to wheel. 1/4x3x3 angle, with some 1 3/4 tube I had. All free leftovers from work. Not connected to frame yet but still fairly strong. If I mangle these, I have some 2x4x1/4 box tube that will take their place but will need complete rethink of the exhaust.

Its also insured for the first time in many years, and I have the title and appointment with DMV next weekend.

Been enjoying the good weather working in the garage on an 80 series transfer case rebuild and upgrade. New overdrive high range gears and crawler gears for the low range. New bearings and seals, lotsa work with pullers and the press. Gears from Georg at Valley Hybrids are very well made and they fit, and the bearings in the SOR rebuild kit are top quality. almost ready to wrap this baby up!!!!!
