Looking for some help asap from the hive mind. Anyone with experience with 80 series axles or lockers.

I am assuming there should be some wires sticking out here?

More importantly, I've taken the lower nut and bolt off. Then the upper right nut and bolt. Seems to have freed the wire loom stay, but the locker isn't moving. Possible the PO used RTV on the mating surface or it hasn't moved in 23 years. Is a BFH the solution here or am I missing a bolt/nut?

2 plugs and 1 breather vent. It was plugged in right?

What's an e35?

The one that came after the E30? I might be wrong I’m barely fluent in BMW.

I would love to know if there is now an adapter kit for the 350Z CD009 manual trans. I would love to ditch the T56 and get back to the buttery 350Z trans.

Yes he adapted the CD009 to the LS. Adapter plate and a custom lightweight flywheel. He used the PMC adapter from drifthq but looks like Collins makes one too.

The T56 gives manual transmissions a bad name. CD009’s are pretty cheap by comparison too.

I believe he has to grind the housing a bit to get it to fit in the E30’s trans tunnel.

E36 was the next body style. It had an m-52 engine.

Many adapters available for this trans. People in the know tell me to use this transmission to convert my 2JZ Lexus IS300 to stick shift instead of Toyota Aisin swap.

Did you have a Z?

Ah I thought there was a body style between E30 and E36. Must have been a turbo’d and megasquirted M-52 then. He was making around 450-500 horsepower with that setup. Had trouble getting traction for a while. Once he figured that out he started snapping axles...

@Pacer - I have a 350Z with an LS2/T56 swapped into it.

@jamarquardt22 - It appears I have ripped all the wires off and I do not see them readily hanging anywhere. Ripped the wires off the sensor too I think? Any idea where they come from - engine, trans, tx case area - I'm not sure where to start looking.

I did finally get the locker unit off. Rubber mallet, couple of pry bars, some swear words and a lot of back and forth. Looks like I may be headed to the dealership for wiring ... again.

I’ve always wanted to LS swap a FD body RX7...

@Pacer - Locust tree? If so, great firewood. Burns super hot and fast. Really dusty ash though.

I do not know @SuperHatch. I used to know a bunch of local guys and some down in MD, but many of them sold their cars and the scene kind of moved to the 370Z. Now it's garage art and I take it out and beat on it on nice sunny days.

@YotaFun - when I did my swap the Sikky kit didn't use the Nissan trans and there was only one other vendor offering a kit and they had production issues that I was trying to avoid.

Going to take the locker apart today to see if it is salvageable, but I expect I will have to buy a new one. Will try to find the wires as well. Not looking forward to that.

Gotcha. Yeah from my research, now it seems to be the popular swap for most. And I always loved the feel of the CD009 in the Z cars. It's working it's way into the list of future mods for the SC with a possible turbo too....

You have a electrical problem. Why would you assume you have a mechanical one too?

It won't work if the harness is missing.

Additionally if you can find somewhere where the wires were, I believed Toyota used the same connectors for all their elockers and I have the locker to body portion of the harness from my brown 4Runner collecting dust

I figured I would at least take a peek at the locker to make sure it seems functional since it's already out now.

Clean and new like the day they came from the factory. Couldn't have hoped for better. Looked so good I decided not to even open up the other half.

Unfortunately I rotated the motor just a hair when putting the it back past the magnets and it wouldn't line back up on the truck to re-install. I didn't want to drive it with the open hole so I had to improvise.

This is what came to mind that I had available:

It did not fit as expected, but it still ended up fitting nicely and problem solved until I can get to the dealership for repair.

We had a talk about "rabit holes" once. I see you forgot.
