I am about to start 1963 FJ45 pick-up Restoration. may have a question or two along the way.

Picked it up of a Grain Farmer about 5 Hours drive out west from the Coast, not a hint of any rust anywhere, chassis is smooth with no pitting all original one owner. Never been registered for the road ,been used as a farm vehicle all its life. And always kept in the barn
Genuine 72,000 miles.

The Day I picked it up a hard tow behind the Jeep Cherokee a lot of weight.

The Farmers pet Kangaroos the one lying down is the baby the farmer has had it for 10 years comes and goes as it pleases and has had 7 babies or Joeys as they are called in Australia in that time, he has them tagged on the ears so knowone will shoot them

Got it home first thing I did was flip the Bezel ,take the sides off and put some wheels I had lying around on it, until I get some 750 x 16 tyres for the steel rims.

I am going to restore it keeping it all original ordered a few of bits from CCOT
Front turn signals, tail lights, bib lights, side mirrors,Got more bits from Cruiser Parts
Door stoppers, taillight brackets, four shiny hubcaps, windscreen rubbers.
I have a Question about the rear turn signals the only lights for the back are the round ones, and have a stop and taillight bulb, and in the owners manual refers to them as stop and tail lights and the front as turn signals did they come with only the front turn signals and no rear ones, I have never had one this old before I have been restoring FJ40s for the last 5 years the oldest being a 1975 so I not familiar with the light setup on the oldie and this is my first pick-up I would like to keep it as original as I can.

Pics of the owners manual the oldest one I have seen in perfect condition

I would like to get it all roadworthy and registered and drive it around before I start the restoration, which is about 3 months off, as I am restoring a 1982 LX FJ40 at the moment.

That is an amazing find!
The rear turn signal is wired in to the stop/tail light. The indicator will use the brake filament to flash.

Vin will be key, but I'm thinking it's a long wheelbase rig. looking at where the forward rear spring is mounted, I thought the SWB rigs mounted almost under the cab, this one appears to be further back?

I'm thinkin it's later than '67. It doesn't have the cowl to engine bay vents.

That COULD just mean that it's a non heater model. But like you say, a pic of the dash would be telling.

So how does it look now?

Were you able to confirm the year of it from the VIN number yet?

I just bought myself a 1964 (but i guess that's to be seen...) FJ45 flat bed too.

I'll look forward to seeing what yours looks like now if you've done any work to it yet. Ill definitely keep an eye on this thread.

bloody nice old tojo; but shes later 60s. i got several these old girls in greater disrepair. and an older one or two i tinkering with at the moment. pm me i can prob offer help and bits and pieces.

much too nice to restore; put a battery in it and put her straight to work. and keep that patina! thats what im doing with mine. its cheap and lots of fun like that!

I hate to be picky..."Not a hint of rust anywhere"
But this photo brings your honesty into question...
