Is there a meeting this Friday?

We miss everyone so we have made the decision to finally hold a monthly meeting. Please note: This meeting will be at a new location (it will not be at the Tempe Sonic/QuikTrip)

When: Friday, November 20th, 2020
Time: 7:00pm - until the last person leaves
Where: 5141 North 40th Street, Phoenix, AZ 85018 (One block north of Camelback on the east side of 40th Street).*

We have decided to have this month's meeting at my office building for a couple of reasons, which we can talk about at the meeting. Look for an agenda to be posted soon and let me know if you have any agenda items to add.

We hope that everyone is doing well and is healthy and safe. We will see you on the 20th.

*Please be aware that the carports at my office are pretty low, so think before you pull your truck under the carport.
Is there a meeting this Friday for December??

Is there a meeting this Friday for December??

no meeting in December Ken. We usually have the CSC Christmas party but with everything going on and the number of cases on the rise i just wasn’t prudent. We are looking towards January as a possibility but nothing definite at this time.

Sounds good Merry Christmas everyone!

Phoenix, AZ

New Members / Guests

Christine & Dimitri
@Dimitris - New Member #568 Dimitri Milionis Christine and Dimitri own a 2017 200 series land cruiser, they recently bought it and actually had to restore it because it was in a house fire (got a good deal on it!) and had smoke damage/melted plastic pieces, etc. It's all fixed up now and they are excited to start building out a few things (starting with an RTT they have waiting for them in Canada). Before getting an LC they have been doing a lot of overlanding on motorcycles (Africa twins) so they are excited about trying out overlanding in more luxury!

Brandon @Brandonpharmd - Brandon just bought a 1992 HDJ81 rhd diesel, he doesn't think it's ever seen dirt but he's trying to get acquainted with it and hopes to introduce it to dirt soon!

Stan - Stan came here as a guest because he just bought a 2016 4Runner. He is looking for new friends in the 4x4 community and is impressed to see all these vehicles here!

Run of the Month

There really has not been a lot of activity re: organized club ROTM events for a while due to the temperatures and current events, but we are looking forward to getting these started up again!

ALSO WE HAVE NOW DESIGNED A CLASSIC CSC PATCH THAT YOU WILL RECEIVE IF YOU STEP UP TO ORGANIZE AND LEAD A RUN OF THE MONTH! SEE @Saddletramp FOR DETAILS :steer:

October
- @brices123 did host a small October camping trip up to the Casner area (couldn't get a permit to run the trail, unfortunately) and a few other club members turned out for that. October ROTM - Casner #8

November - @ARJMN hosted the November ROTM Rug Road with camping at Turkey Creek Events/Trails - Rug Road 2020 - November 7&8 It was apparently cold but still a great run and beautiful scenery, as always! Also if anyone has run Rug Road in the past and wants a CSC sticker, they can be purchased directly from @ARJMN or through the club (see @Saddletramp). The stickers are really cool and a nice trophy if you're into stickers. Conquered Trailz Rug Road Decals For Sale

December - Available! Who wants to lead a run this month?

January - We've got a Classic Cruise scheduled for January organized by @mtn biker See the thread for details!Events/Trails - Classic Cruize 4 Walnut Canyon make sure MLK weekend is open Saturday January 16th

February - Nothing in the books yet but keep an eye out, often something is planned over President's Day weekend...

Finance Report

We're doing well because we haven't really spent anything this year. We currently have $3,948.00 in the CSC bank account. We will probably need to do an order of shirts and/or other club swag sometime soon to restock inventory. Any ideas on shirt preferred colors other than the yellow?

New Business
  • Christmas Party
    • Unfortunately due to current events we will not be able to have a holiday party this year but are looking forward to resuming the annual tradition in 2021! :santa:
  • December Meeting
    • Typically we do not have an official December meeting because everyone is so busy traveling, attending work and family events, etc. that it is difficult to coordinate. Usually instead of the meeting we have an annual holiday party (hosted at Brice's house the past couple of years) but as noted above we will unfortunately not be having a party this year. So there are no organized December events, keep an eye out for news in the coming new year!
  • HAM RADIO LICENSES
    • The club is always encouraging everyone to get their HAM Radio license! CSC uses 146.460 megahertz on the two meter band as our club frequency, so if you are interested in getting a HAM radio license it's not difficult, it takes a little bit of study on your part, a couple of practice tests you'll be ready to go but if anybody wants to get licensed and is interested in that please talk to @LongDuck and we'll get a group together and have you go through the Red Cross licensing program. We usually license about 10 to 12 members a year that to go out get their license. It is far more clean and clear than CB radio every was and it also makes communication on the trail much safer and it keeps our trucks together on the runs.
