Sorry for the stupid 80 noob questions...looked in the 80 FAQ and I think the answer is no, but just curious.

Has anyone put a manual in an 80?

Difficultly?

Thanks,
Tim

Check the Hardcore section. IIRC, there was one who put a Taco 6-spd/Atlas TC in his 80. Not sure if he ever finished it, though...

And yes, there are several 80s with a standard transmission roaming around the world. Except USA. We got the shaft. :shotts:

Manual transmissions on Landcruisers have always been (to my knowledge) and are still an option in Europe. When I ordered my 97 Landcruiser I had the choice of Turbo Diesel with manual or automatic. The V8 petrol engine only came with an automatic. I went Diesel and automatic - too lazy to shift on the highways!

Believe it or not, the only other option that you could specify was the exterior color. Everything else came standard (DVD system, etc.).

Quite a few of the used 80s that I have seen for sale have manuals...unfortunately they have to be 25 years old before you can legally import them into the US or I would have already bought a diesel, manual 80!

If I am remembering correctly, I've have seen a few here in Ulaanbaatar. It may have been the vodka though.

What. You meam they put Auto boxes in 80,s?

Most here are manuals. Sometimes think an Auto would be nice especially when towing the Caravan

Not in North America (except for some foreign models imported to Canada).

It´s quite common in south america and you could choose either manual or auto.
