I think its the only way to go, here's mine. Top before (my first actual drive in it) and bottom after, same tires in both pictures.

Where do you get those sweet looking soft tops and bows??? Are they original? Also, love the stock wheels and agree to ditch the tube bumper and fender flares. Peanut (stock) is in!!! Did the early FJ's have hub caps or not?

Early - 1966 FJ40-45 had black Rims and "T" moon rims

some time in 67 - 68 Toyota changed to the newer style hub caps and gray rims.

ocdbeetle-latches are painted

Hogan-big time change on yours- looks good!

CeeJay-top and bows are Ehsan from Pakistan

jimhendrixx- looking good man

I cruise the local wrecking yards once in a while. The lc rims are easy to spot up on the racks, and cheap too. Then get a rattle can. You need the newer welded style for disc brakes, riveted ones only work on drums.

You what i did was find a set of five stock rims on CL. i then found a guy who powdercoats racks for Costco and Nordstrom etc. He uses a gray that is a bit lighter than the stock color of the wheels. He said that he would blast my wheels, and powdercoat them with the racks for $25.00 each! He said if you pay me cash, no tax! I handed him $150.00 to do all five and bam here they are. i had a set oc stock hub caps to put on these powdercoated wheels. yeah a bit lighter, but they look good, dam good!

I agree with most...the old school rims looks great! I plan on ditching my chrome rims for the stock rims with some tall skinny tires in the near future. So if you have 5 steelies that will fit a '76 40 that you want to get rid of let me know!

Merry HO HO!!
