Went back to old school rims, what do ya think?

I just put together my first split rim on a tire I picked up from C-list. I double chained it while I filled it up. Easily a  job with tire irons, a wrench for the valve, an air hose that can be operated at a safe distance, and soapy water to clean everything before it gets put back together. The hardest part was getting the tire off the old ford rim that it was on. This was not a split so I had to have it removed by a tire shop. I try to remove it myself first though so I broke the bead with my generic hilift, a chain and weight of the vehicle. While filling with air, the ring completely self set once at about 8 psi. I realize some split rims can kill but Mr. Toyoda designed his to be nearly idiot-proof. I'll always use the chain, but its likely not necessary. I'm just being cautious. Of course dont put your face over the ring while filling up the tire.
