Weld repair on 2f engine block? (1 Viewer)

Has anybody attempted to have a hole repaired on an fj40 cast engine block? I had about a 1"x5" inch chunck break off just behind the driver side motor mount right above the pan after throwing a rod years ago and I never considered trying to repair it due to it being cast.

Do you have pics? May be possible to drill and tap, and use counter sunk allen head bolts to reattach the piece. Then stitch / weld it.

seems there may be more damage internally than just what you are seeing outside.
it may be a lost cause no matter what

Is could be TIG welded or TIG brazing with silicon bronze but I would not recommend.

You may be right but I was just curious if anyone had attempted it.

I have seen cracks stitched but never a hole fixed. The block is cast so I think brazing would be the answer but not nearly strong enough.

Id just find a good short block, why chance it.
