yeah, good point...the body of the ram gets mounted to the housing, the rod-portion to the tie rod....the body should stay stationary relative to the axle.

Not to get into the stronger, strong enough fight. But I would never weld to a 3rd just for the fact if I break on a trailride, or on a trip.
