I just got a timing belt kit that claims to be "OEM" everything came in toyotaboxes with correct part numbers. I want to make sure that the water pump is an actual aisin pump. Does anyone know if the actual oem pump has any distinct markings that i could use to identify it?

Has AISIN cast right on it?

Not that I see anywhere. There are some part numbers and other codes but doesn't say AISIN anywhere.
You ask a great question because some of these "Aisin" timing belt kits disclose that the water pump doesn't say Aisin anywhere. And the reviews indicate that there's quite a few premature water pump failures. It would be terrible to install a counterfeit Aisin water pump that actually had less life than a OE / genuine that you took off, because by all accounts the OE / genuines have an extremely long life.

I’m going to order an actual oem one from the dealer and compare. Then maybe we can solve this knock off water pump issues.

I will see if I can find the old Toyota water pump that I removed. They make their own boxes that look like boxes from Toyota to sell counterfeit parts.

Yeah I figured that what they did. I think I'm going to return the whole kit just to be sure. Not worth doing this job twice
