Hello,

My 82 FJ40 has the OEM winch and I am thinking of replacing it for a brand spanking new Warn Winch. Will it bolt directly If I remove my winch or do I need a new winch channel ?

What warn winch do you recommend for a easy installation?

You need to post some pictures of your current winch. The most popular winch for a 40 series is the Warn 8274. I haven't seen one mounted on an OEM bumper without some serious reinforcement. It can certainly be done, and I would recommend mounting the fairlead above the bumper, not on it with the cable running through the bumper.

This was a mount from a Ford F250. Holes actually lined up.

in the US a fairly common mount for the 8274 back in the day was a Warn mounting plate(for a Jeep),this was what most dealers/aftermarket used when installing a Warn, my 82 Fj40 had this mount installed when it was bought new.(the Warn pictured is a newer model 8274)

oh.......don't think that winch on your 40 is OEM

That mount must have been universal for Warn. I pulled mine off a late 70's Ford F250. Just unbolted both sides of the bumper and used the mount.
