Warn 8274 brake covers (1 Viewer)

I just purchased an old Warn 8274 winch and the brake cover has some damage from the ball bearings.
Are these plates aluminum that can be welded and machined down?
Has anyone done something like this?
As well as the shaft appears to have wear? would this be OK to run?

The marks on the brake shaft are from when they machined it. Nothing wrong there.

The brake cover is cast iron. You can file/stone it flat and run it or buy a new one.

You know these things were built to Fisher-Price tolerances, right? It's fine. Put it together and run it.
