Where can I a new or used fuel sending unit for 71 fj55.

May try the 40 sender and bend the arm? My truck is a later model, if that matters?
Mike

I read on mud the resistance are different for different year,do you know much about the year difference?

Any one know the resistance of the sending unit when empty and full?

I think we concluded in another thread that the tank depths are different so a 40 sender wouldn’t work. Mike, I think you mentioned a 60 sending unit - that’s something that’s gonna need some investigating.

@Megadoomer had one when I thought mine was bad and was looking for one a short time back. I thought mine was bad but it seems to be working just fine.

The other option is a listing of one on eBay but the way they're listed I think the person assumes what fits a FJ40 works in a FJ55 so there's some risk there.

I used a 60 series unit in my '71 pig (actually one from a 62, but they are probably the same). It's the right length and the gauge registers correctly as far as I can tell. Works fine for me.

I pulled the sending unit out of my tank (late '69) and replaced it with one from a FJ62 when I swapped in the 62 wiring harness (2fe truck, swapped full harness as the 55 wiring was hit and miss).

I just checked the stock 55 sender, I can't get anything but infinite resistance reading from it. I should look if there's any way to shoot some contact cleaner into it ... see if that brings it to life. It's yours for the taking if I can get it working Simon.

Happy new year Curtis.
My 55 was sitting for about 8 yrs before I bought it from previous so the inside of the tank is coated with thick gummy stuff and the sending unit is badly rusted.
I just build an aluminium tank and needed a sending unit.
Thinking of an aftermarket sending unit will work if I can find the ohms reading when empty n full.

Two instances of a 62 series sending unit working in a 55 tank. Great info!

Yes, 62 info is golden. I'm working on an oem nos unit now. If it falls through, ill get the 62 unit.
Mike
I did see in another thread the ohms needed, or guys using a boat style fuel sender. Kus product
