Guys,

I've got a 1996 with 275K. Recently had the U-joint replaced. When I make a right turn, I hear a walrus like sound and can't figure what is the problem. Something is definitely rotating to cause this sound. Any ideas?

Sounds like a wheel bearing. Only in one direction?

Only happens when I turn right. Mostly from a stop and then making a right turn.

And for the record I live by fresh water... very limited interaction with marine life

I'd lift that tire and see if you any wiggles in it to start.

Let's start with land animals. Get a passenger to stick their head out the window like a DOG and determine if coming from front or rear and left or right.

chock the opposing wheel, then Jack up that wheel and spin the tire see what sounds you hear.

Wheel bearing is my guess; however, make sure you have fluid in your diffs.
