What is this? Is it really something that really needs to be done for VSC post-lift? Can it be done via the downloadable techstream software and Chinese OBDII cable adapter?

Read about it here. After being on this forum for over three years I'm still learning new things every day. I guess that's what makes it fun. Get it all figured out and it will be time for a Gelandewagen, Mog, or something.

You can do it with a paper clip, so you don't need the techstream.

Screen shots from those who have done it? What exactly are you calibrating? Just the level reference of the sensor?

LOL. Yes, it can, but it is easiest to follow the bouncing ball in the software.

Didn't see any ball bouncing around.
What he said, any screenshots or tell us where we can find it?

Sorry I'm not in a position to do screenshots tonight. Perhaps tomorrow.

Basically start up techstream. Get vehicle on level and wheels straight ahead.

Select the VGRS system and Reset Zero (or similar name).

It then takes you through step by step of what to do (e.g. put the wheels straight, the put the steering wheel straight, then turn 5 degrees left then right, then wait while it calibrates and resets).

I hope that helps,
Andrew.

Are we talking VGRS or VCS? The VGRS shouldn't be affected by a lift.

Called local Toyota dealership to set up VSC calibration post lift install. The advisor had no clue what I was referring to. He said they deal with lifted vehicles with VSC all the time and never have come across this (they constantly have a row of lifted Tundras, Tacomas, FJs, and 4 Runners on the lot for sale). He spoke with the Toyota Master tech, and he wasn't sure about it either.

Feeling a little bit like the kid who fell for the snipe hunt and everyone else is laughing. (Not that it ever happened to me, but maybe pay back really is a ......?)

So is the VSC recalibration necessary and, if so, any guidance I can give the local Toyota dealership on how to do this?

This is seriously easy to do yourself by following the fsm

It zeroes out, or resets, the yaw sensor. I don't know how necessary it is. Maybe if you change the rake? But rake changes with load, too... Enables correct function of VSC.

Looked up the VSC calibration procedure in the 2004 FSM.

The procedure calls for a SST. Is this just a wire used as a jumper? Can any kind of wire be used (or is a paper clip acceptable as mentioned above)?

The procedure calls for opening and closing the circuit (I believe) several times with the SST. Does this just require breaking the circuit by removing one end of the SST/wire/paper clip?

Anyone know if the 2004 procedure is the same as 2006?

Sorry for the somewhat ignorant questions, but just trying to understand how this procedure works.

Thanks

yes, yes, yes, and I don't know for sure, but suspect so...
