Hey guys,

This just started happening this week, on my 2007 LC. The ABS, VSC TRAC, and VSC OFF lights come on but ONLY when I turn the steering wheel all the way to the right. I am able to reproduce this consistently. Stopping and starting the car will clear them until I turn all the way to the right again (unless I am parked with my wheel turned all the way to the right, in which case they are on when I start the car). No issues stopping with the lights on, I can feel no difference in the brakes, and I am hearing no noises from the Master Cylinder, ABS Pump or the Dash.

I ran the codes with TechStream and found the following -
C0205 - Front Speed Sensor LH Circuit
C1223 - ABS Control System Malfunction

Now my understanding is that the C1223 is popped because the C0205 is popped as well, and remediating the C0205 will cure both codes.

After searching and reading many forum posts, my plan is to first remove, inspect, and clean the Front Left Wheel Speed Sensor. If that does not work I will order a replacement (I am thinking the Standard Motor Products version from RockAuto). I am also planning on inspecting the steering bushings, as I have read that those being bad enough could cause the ABS lights to pop, although I am unsure as to how.

I am posting here to get feedback on my plan, as well as see if anyone else has seen this same or a similar issue. What concerns me the most is the fact that the lights only come on when turning one direction (right).

Thank you for reading.

Check your left side and make sure something isn't pulling on or pinching the wheel speed sensor wire when at full turn.

Good idea, I will check the sensor itself as well as along the cable to where it plugs in. Thanks!

The 06 and 07 wheel sensors are temperamental, I have an 06 and can attest to this hopefully it’s an easy fix for you. If not and you result to replacing the sensor, do yourself a favor and get the OEM one and save yourself from doing it twice.

This may seem odd. I have got the very same lights on if my gas cap is not tight or gasket is compromised.

Have an update for you guys - I went out to inspect the front left sensor cable and at full right turn there was a section that was super taut. After comparing it to the front right sensor (that has no issue), I noticed that the same section of cable on that side was looser. Specifically because the bracket holding the wheel speed sensor cable on the upper control arm on the right side had some wiggle on it - the bolt was not as torqued down as the left side. I am not sure if this is the correct way for these brackets to be, but I loosened the same bracket on the left side and lo and behold I could turn all the way right without the ABS and VSC lights popping! I used TechStream to clear the codes and drive around a bit, and so far this is looking like its fixed.

Picture of the taut section of cable w/ 12mm bolt on the upper control arm I ended up loosening -

Another angle where you can see that it is so taut/stretched the little clamp protector bit is starting to tear -

And after i loosened the bolt, you can tell how much more slack it has compared to the first picture -
