When it rains it pours... with life in general.
I have a 05 lx 470 with about 111k on it. I had no issues until driving it home from the hospital (the initial part of the "rain it pours") . In the middle of my drive (sitting in traffic) the vsc trac, vsc off, and vgrs lights came on. I just attempted to turn the car on and off but nothing. When I arrived home I also notice the the keyless entry stopped working as well.
This morning :

nothing popping up on my generic code reader.
keyless not working
guages flicker
vsc trac on
vsc off on
vgrs on
battery at 12.4

A quick search with similiar symptoms revealed possilby ecu problems that may require replacement. Any assistance to help troubleshoot this would be great. I haven't had chance to use my techstream and wouldn't know what to do with it anyhow. I have a kid in the hospital so I'll be attending to those matters prior. Thank ahead.

Check your 10A ECU B2 fuse in ps fuse box, it’s top row most fwd. When it goes it takes lots of things out due to the multiplexed nature of the system - affects AHC (from N to H in my experience), remote mirrors and seat memories, immobilizer stops flashing (but still starts) VGRS,VSC, remote locking and probably other things I haven’t found yet.
Edit
PS. Wishing the little mountain biker a quick recovery and good health.

Did you ever resolve this issue? Same problem in my ‘06 LX (VSC OFF/VSC TRAC/VGRS lights on solid) but it happened after I killed my battery.

It was a fuse as mentioned. Vgrs goes on after a battery switch or unplugging it. But I don’t think the other lights go on that you mentioned.

Took it to the dealer and they said the VGRS Actuator (45220-60202) needs to be replaced. I was reading on mud that 'Grego' did a 'VGRS Delete' and swapped in an intermediate shaft from the 98-02 lx470 - looks like that part# would be 45220-60110.

Hi
It is the flat multicore core in the actuator that is cut
I had exactly tha same fault and i was able to tepair after welding cable in n several places

Had the same issue. I just changed the fuse and everything works. All lights are now off

Having the same exact issues!

Here's my thread:

Thanks so much for this thread.

I'll start by replacing the fuse.

I suppose the fuse is out.

Replacement fuses in the fuse box?

My best.

What a pain it was to access the passenger side foot well fuse box!

Was also difficult to pull the fuse as well. Argh.

Nevertheless, the fuse was blown.

I replaced the blown fuse, truck started up properly, but shortly after starting…

Lights on cluster resurface, mirrors stopped while dipping, auto door locks stopped working.

Can someone please advise how I can figure out what the culprit is that’s blowing the fuse?

How am I to trace this back to the source of the problem?

Any / all help would be greatly appreciated.

My best.

I replaced the fuse again and made sure the mirror switch was in the center / neutral position.

The instrument cluster lights cleared and the door locks work again now.

Since these items work after stopping the mirrors from dipping automatically, I think I’ve narrowed it down to the mirror dip as the cause of the fuse blowing.

Can someone please assist from here; what should I do next?

If the mirror motor is the problem, how can I replace same myself? Any good instructions / videos to do so?

Thank you again.

Hello again everyone,

Hope all is well.

So I replaced the passenger side-view mirror motor, but the problem remains!

The top row, most forward (to the front of the truck) red fuse “10” blows.

After I replace the motor, I kept the switch in the center / neutral position and did not try to have the mirrors auto-dip while in reverse, but when I went to electrically adjust the front driver’s side-view mirror, the fuse blew and the slew of dashboard warning lights lit.

I thought the problem was emanating from the front passenger mirror, as its auto-dip functionality was not working smoothly in recent time, as it’d skip / hop, shutter on its way down.

Nevertheless, I guess this has been narrowed down to the mirror(s) being the problem.

What am I to do at this time? Can someone please assist and tell me if this means I should replace the driver’s side-view mirror motor now, or can is be something else altogether?

I’d rather not buy the driver’s side-view mirror, only for the problem to remain. Argh. :(

Please advise at your earliest.

Thank you very much.

My best.

Just wanted to check in on this. Should anyone be able to assist please do advise. Thank you so very much. My best.

I have the same isssue and was told I have to do a Zero Point calibration.

Thank you very much.

Does the fuse I circled above blow out in your truck? And do your mirrors not work thereafter?

I ask because if not, and all you're dealing with are the VSC / TRAC / VGRS lights, I believe the recalibration will work.

That doesn't seem to be my case, however, unfortunately. :(

We now have this same issue with our '07 LX470 except that the fuse has not blown.....my local shop didn't have the equipment to diagnose the root issue so we had to take it to the local Lexus stealership.....feeling defeated right now although with 260k miles on it and 13 years old, shouldn't be surprised. With most vehicles there might now be thoughts of selling and getting a newer vehicle but not a thought for my wife and I as we know how well built these things are. We had a '98 LX for 10 years, bought it with 99k and sold it with 245k. Minimal issues while owned.

Get another 98 (or 99). It's kind of ridiculous how good they are.

Diagnosis from Stealership is that Steering Angle Sensor malfunction is reason for issue and needs to be replaced to the tune of $1137.86 and oh by the way, your CV Axle boots and valve cover gasket all need replacing for another $2k+......no thanks, just fix what I brought it in for.

Bought a '99 LC for my youngest to drive in college a few years ago but after 18 months of whining about gas mileage and getting all A's, I broke down and got her a 2013 Honda CRV....regret as I should have kept it as I really had it looking good with 18" rims from a 200 series, Lexus steering wheel, etc. but wife was not for us having 2 extra cars.

No. I don't have any fuses blown. Everything works great as a matter of fact.
