IMHO, the problem with wrap is it's going to go from wrap to crap in 5 years in the SoCal heat and sun I live in.

No its not, how much personal experience do you really have with vehicle wrap? This kind of misinformation really should not be spread further.

I agree that a really GOOD paint job done right is going to be cost prohibitive. A crap paint job will fade, chip, scratch and deteriorate much quicker than any wrap.

Don't hesitate to do a wrap, you might be pleasantly surprised.

Prior to purchasing my white '97, I had no idea Toyota used a one stage coat on their white LCs which makes them super durable and long lasting with very little work. I just credited the great original paint to the previous owners.

I do want to wrap mine like this Brabus 4x4, but I'm too lazy to find a trusted vendor. I imagine it'd cost $4-5K to do it right.

Wow that is one clean 80. lol what year was that pic taken? I imagine mine would have looked like that......about 15 years ago. White and brown is still my favorite combo.

Hey mud,

My 80 needs a paint job, but seeing that I am building it for expeditions and it is not a garage/show queen I am considering all options. It seems pointless do get body and paint work done to just go back out in the bush and scratch it up again....

So... I have had a couple of people talk about full vinyl wraps, which may be more durable than paint, and would allow for some cool pinstripes or graphics to be baked into the look at the same time...

Thoughts? Has anyone done a wrap on an 80? My good buddy @ukaviator used to have a kitted out tacoma (Nemo, the red one) that had a full vinyl wrap and it held up well...

The cost will be more to do a wrap than a paint job, right?

cheers,

Joel

Very Nice!

Yeah, that looks good. I like that you did something unique. Not every 80 needs to look the same. Cheers.
