The Cruiser is vibrating at high speeds 50+ is when it gets bad. Had the tires balanced still does it just now it stays on the road like it used to. Just vibrates and is getting annoying.

Anyone have any idea what else it could be?

I know this is a general explanation but I don't know how else to describe it car just shakes at 50+

Dynamic balance, way better than regular computer balancing.

Find one near you:

Just some thoughts but

- Loose wheel bearings?
- Bent rims?
- bad spindle?

Are your wheel bearings tight? Do you feel it in the steering wheel or the seat of your pants? If steering wheel then front end, if seat of pants rear axle stuff. How are your shocks? maybe one is blown. Ujoints can create some problems, as well as the work you have had done recently. later robbie

I feel it at the seat of my pants. Come to think of it I beleive it started after I had the pinion seal replaced, and I didn't get it fixed b/c I had to end up replacing all the inner axle seals on the front axle that left me broke for awhile...

5'll getcha 10 they put the front drive shaft on in phase rather than Cruiser specific out of phase. Either that, or the whole job was simply done poorly.

Driveshaft bent or weights fell off

I saw a post about the pinion. Has there been any work where the driveshaft had to be removed? If so, the person may have pulled shaft from the yoke and put it back on with the u-joints in phase.

Just some ideas.

HTH,

Went up to LCS the other day and Edwin got under the truck and said I'll need a new driveshaft. Said theres play where the driveshaft connects (said something about male and female parts connect) there is too much play where the driveshaft connects to the slip yoke? I can't regurgitate what he said b/c I suck at that (makes college classes fun!)

Anyways I'm in the market for a used drivehshaft for a 91' cruiser. Or any other year that has the same size...

You have a CDL don't you? Just drop it, lock it, and take it out for a ride to confirm what Edwin said.

It's kinda rude to disagree with someone's diagnosis who's seen the vehicle, but I'd greet the "you need a new driveshaft" diagnosis with skepticism. The 91 is an extremely overbuilt model with an underpowered engine and the same driveshaft that handles diesels and the more powerful 4.5 twincam later installed. Since your vehicle is also stock, has low miles and is evidently not wheeled I simply cannot see how your front shaft would be worn even if it has been poorly maintained.

In addition, you didn't even address what has been mentioned not once, but twice - the driveshaft's orientation either in phase or out of phase. Learning what this means to you and checking it would take all of 60 seconds - most of which would be finding a towel to lay on for the 8 seconds it would take to look.

Ditto the front balance suggestion - about $20 at a tire shop.

So, feel free to pop half your textbook budget on a front shaft and thanks for playin'.....

Safe,

I developed this special code for Beo. You look at the key to the right of the one I typed....

Dougy

or the one to the left. . .

>> or the one to the left. . .<<

No, the keys to the left are Beocode only to be interpreted by Dougie.

Beocode - I like that, and it flows. Better slap a copywrite on that baby.
