Just wanted to pass along that I have confirmed it is possible and being done. If this is common knowledge, it's news to me. You can use Techstream under "health check" or a Snap-on OBDII scan tool to pull the ECU calibration ID # which is what’s needed to rewrite a custom file.

Here are some maps of NA Tundra's and possibly an IS350-not sure. The big gains are the power coming in much sooner in the power band. Torque came in 800+rpm sooner on a naturally aspirated truck on the dyno. Also seems to have fixed the trans hunting for gears for those who have that issue. I'll report back once I have a custom tune written and installed with my impressions on my supercharged LX.

Is the VF Tuner software able to edit both engine and transmission maps for '16+? Are you tuning yourself or working with a tuner?
Yes sir, the trans is tunable as well. If you are NA as I understand it this tuner is able to rewrite ECU and TCU maps remotely.

Since I have a SC I need an in person dyno tune. Check him out on FB, IG, YouTube. He is based in Des Moines, but travels to Fremont, CA and Houston and works with shops to tune there. Look up @tunedbyloi.

Edit: he is now based in the Bay area, but travels to those other locations for work occasionally.

vs a corvette

I used to own an is250 so seeing this is impressive the way it get thru gears. Probably tuned on E85 but still. He’s tuned quite a few Tundras on 37s and such. This is supposedly the worlds fastest naturally aspirated is250.

This is great news.

Hopefully, it will encourage more to add the Magnuson or Harrop supercharger. I know I'm more interested now knowing the ECU tune is doable.

I'd like to see Magnuson release a kit with a tune, because then they'll spend the time to get it EO qualified, 50 state legal.

Watching with interest. I have the stage 1 Harrop. My first move would be a trans tune. The cruise control in particular could do a much better job if it held onto gears a little longer at low boost levels.

I want a trans tune that will only run with the TC locked in 4/5/6 when I enable ECT PWR (which is my towing mode).

On 4.88 gears all the other performance tunes on the ECU are just gravy for an NA engine.

Word on the street is that Magnuson is coming out with a 2650 for the LC/LX which I’m sure would include a tune. No idea on timeline tho.

I'd be interested if Magnusson comes out with a '16+ kit that's 50 state legal and doesn't cost $7-8000

Just to share- I sent my cal ID to VF and they were unable to tune it remotely. They can tune it if I ship the ECM to them (in Korea) for an initial unlock, for which they will not charge other than shipping. However I am somewhat reluctant to send my $800 ECM via UPS overseas- curious if anyone else has done that? I'm also toying with buying a spare ECU to ship to VF, or of course if I can find a used one from a wreck that would be a better solution.

You'd want to find out whether they can reprogram an ECU to your VIN as part of the unlocking procedure. I do know our ECUs are coded to a bunch of things during setup including your VIN so they can communicate on the vehicle's CANBUS network.

That's a step in the right direction. As I understand it, remote tuning is available for N/A trucks only and once you add forced induction it needs an in person dyno tune. Maybe you could get one and "can it" for everyone else who wants to run a 2650?

And from what I've gathered once a tuner gets ahold of it, even at stage 1, your injectors and fuel pump can't keep up. Past 5,000rpm they are out of their duty cycle, anything 80%+, or worse hitting 100%. This is info discussed on the 5.7 Tundra forums.

Just to clarify, they need the ECM shipped for the unlock in order to allow any tuning- in-person at a dyno or remote tuning. Once unlocked the ECM could be flashed with a canned tune if one were available or tuned at a dyno session.

Stage 1, i.e. with the large blower pulley on the Harrop/2650 charger kit, there is enough fuel with stock injectors and the DW pump. Possibly excess at max boost where some leaning would increase power. I'm not interested in stage 2, just optimization of stage 1 and some transmission changes.
