So what are you all thinking about head gasket failure prevention? Drain and fill radiator every 2 years?
In addition to draining the radiator also be sure to do at least one of the two block drains. The passenger side is super easy to access. I was able to snake my arm in there (above the frame and below the UCA) and slide on some tubing to the block drain and then routed it to my bucket to catch the coolant.
Open it up with a 10mm socket with 2 feet of extentions and you'll get out around 12-13 quarts of the 17 quart coolant capacity.
I did this twice in a row while burping/bleeding any air from the system and ensuring the heater was blowing hot. Doing two back to back acting as a "flush" nets you somewhere around 75% new fluid in the system.

Amsoil's coolant and "snake oil" additive claim to prevent corrosion on metal and gaskets ..... for what that's worth.
Could be a worth a shot but I dont think there is a consensus on the root cause of the HG Failures.
Manufacturing defect, neglected cooling system with old corrosive coolant , over heating due to the radiator defect or coolant valley leak...etc are all possible explanations.

With that said I have first hand experience with a used and abused early 3urfe with 220k that has seen little to no maintenance and is still running strong and then we see the ones that failed at 140k with regular maintenance. 🤷

Yes thank you very much. After this saga of mine I want to do what's best for my 45k mile replacement engine. Thank you
