I have a set of almost mint dual lens front fender light assy on my 1962 FJ 40.

I understand the Red and Yellow lenses are NLA. Mine yellow lenses have light spider cracking and the reds are like new.

Working with the Mud community, I can use my lenses as patterns for the molds and new ones can be made. The manufacturer is a Mud Member and TLCA supporter and has made many lenses for other vintage Land Cruisers already. I ahve already spoeken to them in person about this. Each of the molds is $300 - $350 to have made. The part number molded on the lenses is different for the Yellow and the Red.

Obviously the more we buy, the less expensive they are.

I am not looking for a Group buy, I will not be selling them.

I'm just gauging interest in how many would be sold. Depending on how many commitments will determine the price.

Right now, our best guess is 20 of each or enough to do 10 rigs. At that volume, the price would be kinda of expensive.

I don't need them since mine are in excellent shape, but mine would be used to make the mold.

If they were available, would you buy a set?

pm sent, I talked with you quite a while ago about this when I had noticed your purchase

Marv Specter is interested in having them available again. Specter Off-Road, Inc.-Landcruiser Parts & Accessories

Marv actually sent me to this guy after he seen that mine were so clean that they could be used for patterns for the mold. The last reproduction run they did year and years ago were not quite mint and everybody is out of them.

That's great!

Edit: I will be getting a '62 FJ40 parts rig this summer. Unfortunately it is a parts rig because the frame and tub are too far gone. So...I might combine this '62 with a '78 to make a sort of DD, but I am not sure. If I do, then I might be in for a few sets and some spares, but so far the project is farther down the road, so I can't make any promises.

These are the ones I am talking about.

Mark Algazy of Marks Offroad said he has only seen one set of them. He has been in business for over 20 years so maybe they are a bit rare.

Late 1950's - 1964 production, from what I understand.

'62 into '63, FJ40's and FJ45LV's had same lense but longer neck on the housing mount. I think '63's were a carry over, not sure if it's listed in the '63 parts books, but definitely in my '62 book.

John?

The first year of the FJ40 1961 had them too. They were gone by 64 but not sure if all 63 had them. I have a undated owner's manual. It show these turn signals but the picture of the rear of the transfer show the newer six bolt cover for the tailshaft of the transmission which was mid 63 change.

64 was year of change for the FJ40. First year of the single body style. Hard top and soft top had the same body style. High B pillar was gone. Rear tail lights changed. Pretty sure the front turn signal changed at the same time. That new style light lasted into early 69 which match the tail lights which stay the same until early 69 when they got larger.

Glad someone is doing this as this project has been worrying me. I have way to many irons in the fire. I actually made a few and still have my molds but they were not of the quality I would think anyone would want for a restoration.

This was a pic of my first run. The original is on the left. The second molds were much much better but I still had a few bubbles I couldn't clear. I bought a new deep vac but never tried the new molds out with it.

Fun project, learned a lot. Glad Sean is finally getting to see this carried out.

I'd be in for two sets in a heartbeat....... my originals are picture above in trollholes post and are far from ideal for molds.

hope you can make this happen D' animal

After think about it, I am going to make it happen.

I went to drop them off last week but the person i needed to speak with was not in. I was not going to just leave them on the counter or his desk.

I will drop them off this coming week.

Probably put me down for five of each. I just picked up another set of the turn signal which had no lenses at all. That would give me to full sets and a spare set of lenses.

Those also won't fit the 64 turn signals. The 64 were held in with three screws while the earlier one the whole lens screwed in.
