I was looking for a way to put the Boost and Pyro gauges somewhere on the dash where I didn't have to move my head and go look for em. Not crazy about the pillar pod thing.
Turns out the vents are the ideal location for gauges..
so....

Looks good. I did the same thing in my 97 Camaro to mount my wideband o2 gauge. Pillar pods are for diesels and rice burners.

Here is how they look at night.
I put a green condom on the light bulb in the Boost gauge to match the face color to
the stock instrument cluster a little better.
The photo is taken from eye level. I can see all the gauges better than the camera shows in the pic.
The ductwork behind the gauges is still in tact and the wires etc pushed through rubber grommets on the duct walls for a good seal.
Plenty of air blows past the gauges. Normally I keep the heat at the floor level so as not to dry out the eyeballs anyway.. so any loss of flow is of little concern.

Thanks lostit for supplying the guinea pig vents and ducts.

You will also notice that I used a Manifold Pressure gauge instead of the standard 0-30 PSI Boost gauge.
Reason being is that the MP gauge is a 0-15 PSI scale. This engine will likely never see more than
15 PSI so I wanted a more active needle that showed the lower end PSI fluctuations more obviously.

Those are looking great! Good to see you finally got time to get them finished.

Ya.. I rarely seem to get any time for my own stuff.
You got to see what my saturdays look like first hand

nice .. I was thinking in this option when do mines .. but here I need any small air flow from all vents to keep me cool in sun shine days ..

How the cold air afect the gauges .. ?

I need to add the green condom to my oil press, boost and oil temp gauges .. your looks really close to the factory light and color ..

I'd like to stay cool by having all of the a/c vent real estate available, but at night it looks like they belong there, with the green illumination and all!

Plenty of air still blows past the gauges. The overall
Air volume seams about the same, just that the center vent next to the
clock is pushing more pressure.. which is AOK since that shoots it between the seats and further back in the vehicle.
In any event.. Minor reduction in AC vent CFM was not of any concern for me in Southwest BC climate.

Nice location...might do this for my boost gauge and EGT too...wish there was a steering column "pod" available like this one.

Canadian company, so perhaps you might be able to convince them to do a dual-pod for our rigs. ;) If you do talk with them, say "hi" to Winston.

cool install. especially in a mild climate where the AC isn't as high a priority.

I really like the manifold pressure vs. boost. 0-15 is a much more useable scale than 0-30.

Performed fairly well, but the pyro has had to be replaced under warranty once already, and the current one often just intermittently reads incorrectly and then snaps back into line. If I was doing it again I’d use something else.
the 0-15 boost pressure gauge is definitely the most active, but I haven‘t compared it to Tach. I wouldn’t expect they would follow each other as one is a function of engine speed, the other a function of engine load.

Was curious on which gauge matched RPM more for ascetics standpoint. If You were to do it again any change in gauge location and where. Any change You would make with gauge brand, size, style? I'm sure I'll have more questions just can't think ATM

Ahh..the boost gauge is more of fit with the aesthetics of the factory gauges I think. I definitely like the gauge location and would do same again despite the time and effort it took. Haven’t researched other gauge options or brands. Perhaps if the pyro dies again I’ll spend some time on it.
