2004, 370k miles. I just purchased it this Spring and have caught it up on all maintenance and repairs. Truck seemed well taken care of, no leaks, no smoke on start up, does not use oil, etc….
A little background, I have done all fluids, filters, Denso plugs and all 8 coils, new O2 upstream sensor, cleaned MAF and throttle body.
Upon start up the engine is quiet and sounds good hot or cold. When accelerating once I get up into the RPMs, say over 2500 I start getting what sounds like valve train noise especially right before it shifts. The transmission shifts normally. Noise does not change whether engine is cold or has been running for hours.
I know these 4.7s have a tendency to develop a crack in the manifold and it will create a ticking, but this is not that, I have heard that noise before.
Any ideas on this?
