It is with much excitement that I announce this.

We have recieved permission to hold our disaster relief in support of the victims of Katrina. The BILO store in Clemson has agreed to allow us to use their parking lot this Sunday in an effort to collect food donations from the public.

To support our cause, ROCK101 has agreed to produce and broadcast our message across the Upstate.

The Clemson Salvation Army unit is currently assisting over 1,000 victims arriving here in the Upstate. They will recieve our donation of food on Monday, Sept. 12.

Our help doesn't end there, however. The American Red Cross has asked our assistance in transporting cots from Easley to the Palmetto Expo Center in Greenville. To support this, I will need to let them know how many of us can help with this aid. I don't know what the specifics are yet as I just recieved their voicemail. As soon as I hear back from them, I will let you all know. Regardless, I will volunteer as I hope you will, too.

I ask for your support in this, the largest catastrophy in American history. Please join me.

Sweet dude!!! So are we gonna just head over to Bilo after the Trash Pick-up? Grab some grub on the way? Looks like I'll need to wash and clean out the cruiser on Saturday, might even wax it. If the cot thing is on the weekend I can help. Guess now we need a head count of who is gonna be there on Sunday.
So Far we have: Alex, Marshall, JP, Richard, Me,

I'll be there helping out standing in the sun with you guys. Let me know a date for the cot thing, I have to see how it interacts with my classes and stuff.

Yes, you're right. We do need a head count.

Regarding the pick up: In lieu of recent events and the necessity of speed, the Adopt A Highway pickup and swap meet will need to be postponed. I will get with the Board and plan another date this year for this event.

The Greenville News may send a photographer to cover our collection Sunday. It may be an opportunity to shine as a group.

Thank you, Chuck for this idea. Let's make it happen.

Cool deal, guess I'll definately be washin the cruiser now. What time do we wanna start? I'm thinkin 11:30 I think that is a good time for people gettin out of church. If it needs to be later that's fine too. We need some signs made up also, anyone got access to this? Thanks, Chuck

And Thanks El Presidente for your hard work!

I don't know if everyone got my email, so here it is:

In regards to hauling cots, I have a 17 foot car trailer that could be used, but I don't have a truck that has the electric brake hook up to tow it with. If someone has a truck with a class 3 hitch, 2" ball reciever and a "round 7" electric plug with trailer brake module, i would be more than willing to donate its use to the effort. Anybody?

Keep up the good work! Gathering boxes of clothes to donate down here. Wife is making a run to BJ's to get some toiletries to donate tomorrow. Glad to see things are beginning to turn a corner there...........

We should meet at BILO at 10:30 AM to set up and be ready by 12. JP, our smiling Events Coordinator (and the man who came through for us yesterday), is making our "KATRINA FOOD DONATION" signs with help from Clemson U. We will need a few items to bring. Please let me know if you can help with these:

• Folding Canopy Tent (to keep the sun off)
• Cardboard boxes
• Red and yellow balloons
• Enclosed trailer (to keep the donations in and transport to Salvation Army)
• Thin rope or twine
• Folding table
• Anything else you think is necessary

I can probably get my hands on a small folding card table. I think Bilo would have plenty of cardboard boxes, have we asked them yet?

JP is following up on that. We may need as many as we can get. Thanks for the table! -A

I don't think we will have a problem finding buns.

One thing I'm just wondering if it would be a little wierd cooking hotdogs and collecting food for Katrina victims.

What do you guys think?

Good call, Marshall. It IS a bad image I think. Let's not do it. I think a cooler with drinks is as far as we should go.
