Upgrading stock low-beams - what are you using?

I replaced the stock D4S bulbs with Made in Germany Philips 6000K Ultinon HID D4S 42V 35W Model#:42402WXX2 bulbs: Buy the Philips Ultinon HID 6000K Headlight bulb 42402WXX2 Headlight bulb. They are a perfect match for the Hikaris and brighter than stock.

The Hikaris install exactly the same as a stock Halogen bulb - unclip the wiring harness, twist out the old bulb, twist in the new bulb and clip the wiring harness back on. Yes, plug and play into OEM wiring.

Thanks!

Had a look at the bulbs on the passenger side.

Low beam is a Harison D4S 35W - looks to be OEM/stock.
High-beam is a Sylvania 9005 - junk sold at local Canadian Tires & Walmarts.

Just ordered replacements for both highs and lows.

Low beams: PHILIPS D4S X-tremeVision 42402XV2C1
High beams: HIKARI Ultra LED - HB3 (9005) and the Auxbeam 9005/9006 Error Free Wiring Adapter

I'm not sure how I'm going to fit that Adapter, though. The connector for the high beams is enclosed in the light housing, and you need to remove a plastic cap in order to access it. I'm not sure the adapter will fit inside that housing. I might have to leave the cap off. Will know soon enough.

I purchased those HB3(9005) Hikari bulbs for High Beams on my 2013LC. They are exceptional. Very bright with a great focused beam for great illumination at distance. They replaced the IPF Gen2 bulbs I had and the Hikaris are better than the IPF's.

If your lights are like mine where the High Beams are also used for DRL's, then the Hikaris will flicker when used as DRL's. To cure this, I purchased these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N2OI1KN/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 They were an exceptionally easy install - just plug them inline with the bulb wiring, no additional power or ground connections. Now my DRL's are steady - absolutely no flickering.

My Low Beams are different from yours - I have HID's where yours are Halogens, so I cannot speak from expeerience, but I don't think you need the Hikaris you linked to that have the adjustable beam. I think they are designed to rotate so they can be used in housings that work best with bulbs that are not oriented vertically, but rather at an angle. You're probably OK with the (higher output) Hikaris that do not have the adjustable beam. Also the adjustables are just one more thing that could get out of alignment. Of course, just my $0.02 and those with more experience with your particular model year may have better advice.

Will these work on the IPF as well? I have a slight flicker.

I don't know, but if you have flicker now, then these will probably help.

Why did you choose the Philips over the Hikari low beams? and thanks for the flicker tip.

Well ... stock low beams are HID and Hikaris are LED, so ... makes no sense to try to replace HID's with LED's - and the Hikari's are sized to be Halogen replacements - there is no Hikari variant that would fit in the HID housing. Unless I'm totally misunderstanding your question?

Me? Because I have D4S HIDs from the factory. Hikari does not offer a D4S HID as far as I could tell. HIDs will also be able to help melt snow off my headlights, whereas the Hikari LEDs will not (LEDs always run cooler).

Roger that I thought I read earlier where someone wanted the heat for snow. Didn't recall if it was this thread or another and I guess that might have been ESW.

So the Error Free Wiring Adapter is completely unnecessary on my '14 LX, as it has a separate LED strip for the DRL, and does not use the high beams. Should have checked before ordering, will now have to deal with returning that item!

I can't wait for it to get dark I installed the Eye's of Megatron today. Both the high and low beams, the lows.

What a difference, great upgrade for both high and lows, the passenger low beam bleeds a little high off the cut off line on my garage door but driving I don't notice it.

Thanks for the tip Gaijin. I used this product on my IPF LED high beams and it works great!

Houston we have a problem . My IPF high beams do not flicker but are in high beam mode when in DRL mode. Very bright during early morning or evening. This is with the
My rig is a 2013. I might go back to OEM.

Went back to OEM high beams. THEY SUCK. IPF LED ROCK. A little flicker is worth it. I’m going to try a new harness.
I will advise ASAP.

Why not just disable the DRLs?

I don’t get flicker eith my IPFs but I’m 2008. Perhaps different?

I have IPF low and high beams. Love them, but I do get a flicker/wink when stopping/idle on my passenger side driving light. I did need to swap back in my OEM halogen bulbs to pass VA state inspection

I live in a semi rural area. Day time head lights are required and the DRL is helpful. The harness I was looking at will not help. So I adjusted auto feature on head lights to the highest setting and will have a little flicker at low light. These IPF LED’s rock. It’s worth the flicker issue.
