Afternoon, first post so i apologize if this has been asked before, I've used the search function and read a couple of similar posts but would like to get some more opinions. I have a new to me 2013 lc200 with 156k miles on her and I'm wondering if this is how these motors "normally" sound or if it's something else. I know dodges can have whats known as the "hemi tick" but I'm not sure if toyotas are known to have a similar sounding motor. It seems to be more noticeable on the passenger side. I've read a few posts on here where people have suggested that it might be a cracked manifold, but it sounds like this even after driving for a good while so I'm thinking it's something else. Or maybe it's normal, idk as I'm unfamiliar with these vehicles.

Welcome!

To me, it sounds like a 5.7L LC engine doing its thing. I'm sure others will chime in too, maybe with some things to check. Any other relevant history to report?

Any idea on what oil is in there?

I'm not sure what oil was used in it as i just picked it up from the dealership on Monday, so I assume they used the recommended oil for it. The salesman just said that they did a "full service" on it which consisted of topping off fluids, an oil change, brakes...etc etc. I went to change the spark plugs this morning and was surprised to see that they were brand new as well. as far as service history goes it was just taken in for its usual oil changes, tire rotations, etc. i didn't see where any major work had be done to it.

If it was an 80 series...
The standard reply to anything from tires to paint, "you need a new head gasket."
In your case it would be 2 head gaskets (insert knee slapping emoji here).
Seriously, videos are hard to use to detect minor stuff, but it seems okay to me.
Usual legal mumbo jumbo disclaimer stuff applies!

Seems pretty routine for history. The injectors and valve train do make various noises; ticking, clicking and clacking.

All sounds pretty normal to me. These engines aren't the classic Toyota quiet as they are large displacement, timing chain, with fuel injector tick.

The 5.7s have a noticeable knock from the passenger side wheel well. And a tick upon closer inspection with the hood up. All 3 of mine have the same sound.

Sounds normal to me - the 5.7’s almost sound like a diesel sometimes. The motors are noisy as hell. The ‘Tundra Tick’ sounds different. I’ve got that on mine for the first few minutes after a cold start but it goes away once it’s at operating temps. I’ve had two different Toyota service departments tell me it’s fine and not to worry about it. I’ll probably get the timing chain tensioners replaced anyway at some point. It’s about an $8K job so not in a huge hurry.

Anyway, yeah - sounds perfectly normal to me.
