You may consider dry ice cleaning/detailing,

No need to buy, you can actually rent one.

He lost credibility once he said "we use a torque wrench to break the lug nuts loose"

Do the rentals come with the ice as well?

I've been hearing about various dry ice system. But didn't know they can be used on body paint and interior.

I bought a roller style undercarriage washer but modified it to use garden hose pressure and a quick couple. This entailed upsizing to 1/2" pipe and modifying some 1/4" NPT hose barbs for nozzles...

The dry ice cleaning machine has it’s bounds too just like any equipment. The one I posted is just an example, there are cheaper options depends on your area. There are different equipment models for your specific use, as well as a range of adjustments on the machine itself (but you get the idea of how the machine works and it’s advantages).
(+)
• no mess, you don’t have to take a bath along with your undercarriage cleaning of your vehicle
• effective, efficient
• no hard labor to scrub multiple times

(-)
• area-dependent on rental options
• aint cheap at this point not many have this equipment to loan so prices are still up there
• I have yet to see an elbow/u-shape fitting that can reach narrow/corner area where it can access dirt/salt build-up (or I haven’t searched deep enough yet) to get it cleaned

2-3 yrs from now maybe they have new enhancements and models making it more accessible to an average Joe like me for personal use. Time will tell.

Dang. I was expecting a much more vicious come back than that, marriage has made you soft.

Hey at least when I get down to look at the underside of my truck, I'm able to get back up by myself.

I think it'll definitely develop and become more common in the future. I would love to have a home machine, I would pay a grand or so for a decent unit with power for auto applications.

It's not entirely no-mess though. That material being blasted has to go somewhere. Videos I've seen show the surrounding area getting covered in a light dusting. I think if I had one, I'd do it outside only.
