I have run Cooper ST Maxx 255's on my truck- nice looking and decent performance but typical Cooper fast wear. Dynapro's on white cruiser- pretty darn good overall. BFG Mud Terrain on the ol' 96er- ok, but total ice skates. Open Country on wifes 4runner- really like them but seem to be wearing kind of fast. Dura Tracs on my CE Cruiser and now just put new ones on my truck- Clear winner and can do it in ice, snow, mud, low noise, good wear, look good. They cost more but are my favorite by far.

I'll never get MTs again. I've had Toyo MTs for nearly six years and they've been great. Not their fault. I thought that since I don't daily drive them I wouldn't care about the weight and rolling resistance.

First of all, here in Colorado, there is no mud. Or Utah. Or Arizona. Or New Mexico. Not like back east at least.

Secondly, those Toyos, even with my fat pig, barely deflect at 14 psi. So off-road performance actually isn't that great. I've seen people air down Toyo MTs on beadlocks to 1 psi cuz they are that tough but on non-beadlocks, it's tough to get any extended patch with these sidewalls.

So you pay much more for a tire with less siping and I need that and that will actually perform worse in my conditions. And gas mileage took a huge it. I'm not kidding, I can take my foot out of the gas and slow down like I'm braking with those great big heavy lugs spinning.

If you are driving in snow and off-roading in the west, think twice about an MT. I'd get a KO2 or a Toyo ATII for my next tire.

Have a look at the Firestone destination AT. It's very good throughout varied terrain. I Have had it go through everything that other mt's went through. At hwy pressures. Just have to drive it right.

Under advertised but very good tires.

*I want a M/T tire
*I am into performance as well as looks (I know, I know!) So, I don't like the Bubble look if I can avoid it.
*I haven't decided on 315, 285's or staying with 305's. I really don't want to re-gear
*Road noise is not a concern for me
I don't like your tire criteria, but you aren't shopping for tires for me. Swamper Boggers are a top choice (if not THE top choice) for mud. Saying you are not concerned about road noise is one thing, but there are degrees. Boggers are loud. They are not good on ice, but your original post doesn't mention ice. https://www.4wd.com/eSearch.aspx?N=...0j3qJyrn9691XHeyy3NE1Mnv99LOJRoCLJnw_wcB&gp=1 Boggers run true to size, or perhaps even large. 33" Boggers will run larger than 285s. Most 315s run under 34.5" (new). 35" Boggers run 35 - 35.4" (new).

I run Duratrac tires. They are an all terrain tire that have an open enough tread to not suck so bad in mud. There are better rated all around tires, but if you happen to weight your decision for ice. (My truck is also what I take to the ski slopes.) My tires are quiet on the road, and I wouldn't trade them for any M/T tire. My choice was based on VERY different criteria than you proposed.
