Every time I travel down Interstate 10 or 20 I see tons of older eatly 90s to late 89s toyota trucks towing similar trucks .I have seen it for years. Does anyone know why?

Here in NM the Mexicans come up, buy 2 cars with cash, hook them together and drive them back to Mexico. They love Toyotas.

ive sold some from up here years ago

I cry a little every time I see this. Ive encountered the Guatemalans that buy up a lot of these and land train them south. They tell me they’re headed to the coffee plantations in Guatemala, where they get destroyed hauling coffee pickers up and down the mountains. So every time you buy Guatemalan coffee another Toyota dies. I’ve been to their yard off south broadway in Albuquerque, and I wept at the horror of the ground littered with little mutilated Toyota carcasses :frown:

I’ve only sold them one truck, before I knew what they were up to. I’m morally against what they’re doing. If I was rich I’d start a Toyota pickup rescue and save all the homeless, neglected Toyotas from certain death on a Guatemalan mountainside. I buy up the ones I can, and try to find them good, loving rock crawler homes! I’m on a mission from God (insert Elwood Blues voice)

You are a good man Grant. Are these the same folks that harvest all the thirds at the u-pull for export?

Sort of, he’s local but he sells the 4.10’s to them. I wonder where all the steering boxes are going tho!

They pull more than just the 4.10s. Somebody has starting pulling power steering pumps from the Tacomas. Are you talking about the IFS boxes? I hadn't noticed.

Ya he pulls all the 8”, regardless of ratio. The Guatemalans pay more for the 4.10’s from what I’ve seen. Yes, all the ifs steering boxes are gone quick.

Too bad they won't at least bring us some double cabs of similar vintages in return.

Can I rescue that Comet?
If you are serious, pm me your contact info and I’ll send it to him. It’s a one owner princess

Hey @Dumpolina , you know the guy. Can you make this happen? Side job?

I asked about this and about 70 series cruisers when I first dealt with him... he said we don’t have enough $$ for the ones that are worth bringing up, and don’t want the others.

I've noticed that quite a bit out here. I was driving from Vegas down to socal a few weeks ago and saw one early 90s pickup flat towing another one. I figured they were going south of the border. I've actually seen 5 trucks each towing a truck in a convoy when I was in New Mexico a few years ago.

I drove from Odessa TX to San Diego yesterday and saw at least 10 convoys doing this. I see it all the time. I guess I better buy some before they are all gone

I would not be surprised if cartel money is involved.

I see about 30 a day going down south. Mainly just wrecked ones not many older Toyota's though. I saw even more when I was working closer to Laredo TX.
