Haha, I didn't troubleshoot it. I broke it off test fitting the torque converter to the 2fe I am rebuilding.If i may ask, how did you trouble shoot that?

Why wouldn't they???I took my broken one to a trusted local machine shop and they wouldn't touch it . I ended up finding a used torque converter .
The alignment has to be perfect or you could destroy your seals on your tranny and crank, then your crank bearing, then your rod bearings. If your shop has the skills/equipment to do it, you're probably fine.Why wouldn't they???
Almost forgot, that stem is referred to as a pilot. Our TC are usually identified by the numbering on them, I think it starts with an A. If you are going to get a used or rebuilt unit, bring in your flex plate bolts. If the code has been painted over, and the pilot matches, you could get the wrong year. The only difference is the bolt size. One is a 9mm and one is a 10 mm(cant remember what my 1997 size was). Also, it is alright if the pilot looks different but the code and bolt size match. Bring your micrometer with you to the TC shop and check the OD of the pilot. Toyota used something like 20 different styles in the 90s with at least 2 different styles on the later model LCs. Your pilot looks much different than mine.Why wouldn't they???
