This thread seems like a good place to continue Mark's story. Yes, 27 years ago while milling around Mark's shop with my newly acquired FJ45, asking all sorts of questions, I mused about the possibly of a headache rack. That was one of the few original equipment things that had been removed prior to my caretaking. The previous fellows found the space more useful for a large fuel tank.
My amazement when he found one brand new from Toyota Japan.... and when I saw it sitting in front of his shop counter... in the 'chicken crate'!
The rack formed the cornerstone of what my goal with the truck was for a number of years.
As time progressed, my plans changed and the truck's patina just got better. I have yet to install install the rack. While it is not for sale, I do see a place for it on a future project I have in mind. Until then, it remains in the original packaging as delivered to me by Mark.
