Non-cruiser related, but I made a quick video of the exhaust install on a close friend's 911:

So looking at my 80....it seems that the rear is slightly lower than the front. Right now it has stock springs and the shocks are...who knows how old. I am hoping that replacing the suspension will solve this?

if you order the right springs it will ;)

thats a can of worms though. your susp is all stock, no spacers or anything now? typ is to see the front slightly lower.
You dont have a bunch of gear in back either i assume.

Yes suspesion swap allows you to fix all this. You just need to order the correct springs for your intended build (light, med, heavy) to get it to sit how you like. Quick $40 dollar fix for the weekend project would be a set of Mr Gasket spacers from O'reilly's . 25mm rubber

just a generic link but thats the idea

Turning the fan on (regardless of other settings - AC, temp, location) introduces static into my radio.

It does not introduce the static when I'm using my Aux cable.

Thoughts?

The blower motor has brushes in it which produce sparks .... the sparks are blasts in the EM field which are being received by the radio. It is unlikely you can get rid of the EM noise coming from the motor but you should be able to prevent the radio from picking it up.

1. See if the antenna wire is resting too close to the blower motor. Distance is your friend.
2. if the antenna wire is not shielded well you can help ..... some HVAC aluminum tape along the length of the antenna wire.
3. If none of that works we can come up with a proper size capacitor to help filter the noise.

EDIT: One additional thought ..... if the ground to the head unit is not there or is poorly connected it is possible the radio is grounding via the antenna. This is one way for electrical "noise" to reach the radio. So be sure head unit has a good ground to the chassis.

It's broken. I'll give you $2000 for it.

Just got done flushing the cooling system in the 80 this evening. After flush #3 I peered inside the radiator and noticed a lot more calcium buildup than I'm comfortable with. Judging by the amount of buildup, I'll most likely need to replace the radiator soon. I replaced the Tstat too, hopefully that will help a bit.

On a related note. I can't wait to get the motor out of the truck and give it some much needed attention.

If it's in decent shape otherwise, just get it hot tanked and save some coin???

Good call, but I'm not sure you can hot tank a radiator that has plastic tanks

Did you just drain through the petcock? I was only able to drain about 2 gallons at a time and fill the same. I didn't mess with the block drain. I flushed 3 times and looks like I need three more before I add the coolant. I don't think I had the petcock all the way opened bc it took forever to drain.

I thought about that and @GLTHFJ60 is right, I don't think you can hot tank with plastic pieces. This radiator has quite a few. I wouldn't be heart broken to get a new one. This is an aftermarket radiator, and it's seen better days. I'd like to have a Toyota (Koyo?) radiator back in the truck anyway.

I did, yes. I was going to alternate the rad drain with the block drain, but then I saw where it was. My first thought after seeing its location was...

The engine had been flushed a year and a half ago by a shop here in Garner, so there wasn't too much that needed to be done TBH. I wanted to do this in conjunction with a heater core flush. I figured I would try the Prestone chemical flush and see if I could get a little more out of the radiator. I also wanted to replace the Tstat while I was in there.

I got about the same number of gallons out of it as you each time. The radiator I have actually has a plug instead of a petcock valve...kinda weird. It sucked to use, but it drained very fast. I know a lot of people just yank the bottom hose going into the passenger's side (Tstat side) of the engine. Messy, but quick. That's what she...never mind.

Thanks. So when I start putting the coolant in....drain the 2-ish gallons of water first, put in coolant, and since it is only allowing me to put in about 2 gallons, should I keep draining through the bottom until coolant starts coming out and then top off?

I believe you are right, however it depends on what type of coolant you are putting in. You should be able to keep flushing the system until you see fresh coolant, if you are using 50/50 premixed. If you are using full concentrate, have flushed the system (are pulling clear water), then I think you can top it off with concentrate and be done...I think. Since there is a good deal of water left in the system (~2 gallons), the concentrate will mx with the existing water in the system to dilute.

I'm probably totally wrong on this. so, anyone else can chime in if I'm wrong here.

Just drain, close drain, refill with NON 50/50 coolant .... all done.

I have drained about 15 gallons of water through it and still not clear.

So if I am using the petcock to drain then once the water coming out is clear, just stop the drain from the petcock and add a gallon of concentrate and then mix the concentrate with distilled to top off the rest?

You are just talking about what is coming out of the radiator, right (sorry if I missed a step)? Unless the whole block was being flushed I wouldn't worry too much about "clear". The calcification will still be in the radiator as will any gunk in the block. One gallon of concentrate is a little short of 50% .... I believe after closing off the drain I would refill with only concentrate if all you were able to get out was 2 gallons since capacity is close to 4.

Gotcha. Yeah I've had it running for about an hour and just filling in water up top and let it come out of the petcock constantly. It's gotten a lot clearer.

I will fill it up with water and exchange the 50/50 I got for concentrate.

One of the things I did this time around for my flush was purchase several 5 gallon buckets. They are cheap from places like Ace Hardware and Lowe's. Plus you can cap the buckets with a seal tight style lid when you go to dispose of the nastyness.

You can go to your local Chick-fil-A and ask them if they have any empty pickle buckets or would they save you some.....you'd be amazed at how quickly they go thru 5 gallons of pickle chips! They will reek of pickles so if they don't have lids ask them to cover the tops with clear wrap, otherwise passengers will ask where you got the pickle scented deodorizer!

Ok, going to get concentrate coolant this evening and finish the flush etc. this week. So, drain and add coolant based on a 4 gallon capacity and ending up with a 50/50....so I will end up adding about 2 gallons of concentrate coolant....probably a little less.
