Someone got new belts today It did take longer than 25 min as mud lore predicted but a new radiator and few other items found their way home as well.

Me? I kept it simple with a toaster rebuild

I think it's safe to say the old cogged belt was swapped not a moment to soon

I don't really post on here much but after seeing Steve's hands i felt like i should show my work side.. haha

Nothing too special. Had to replace the stake nut on the rear diff output from this springs West trip. Discovered an oil leak at camp in slickrock in Moab after running some pretty difficult trails. Believe it or not, Jason had an oil seal in his spare parts kit (so awesome), but the stake nut he had didn't fit. So i had to reuse the old one. I ordered a new one from Beno when i got back and just never got around to replacing it.

Today was the day. First thing is to notice the difference between the old and the new. I had to scratch my head a few times and text Jason to see what his thoughts were. It's obvious that the new one is much taller than the original. We both realized about the same time that the old one uses a washer. If you remove the washer, they are the same height and you can stake the new one.

This will not be going in Heather's 80. She will not let me touch it until the motor finally dies.

It is going in a 92 I started a while back. Frame and all suspension bushings are done, new body mounts, lift is installed. In usual fashion my own stuff comes last if ever so I took this oppertunity to get the gear cases together and rebuilt the T-Case. Trail Tamer has a great rebuild kt for anyone interested.

Build is here 92 Vortec swap,lift, rebuild It'll be for sale once done, might be 30 years old at the rate I am going.

Well the Travelette wouldn't start yesterday morning so there was a drain somewhere. Took the battery out and charged it, installed a disconnect switch at the battery, and I'm back in business. Will have to run down the drain later, but at least now I can drive it around.

Basic stuff. New plugs, wires, cap, rotor, drained and refilled transfer case and transmission fluid. Transfer case fluid looked pretty great so maybe a waste to throw away but a good sign. Tranny fluid wasn't so hot. Not water logged, but definitely not fresh. Also did a little cleanup, respray of the battery tray, put a couple new batteries in. For an encore, I used an IKEA curtain rail to mount a new coolant overflow tank.

To top it off, sons 60 just got:
Cap
Rotor
Plugs
Wires
T6 oil change and filter

And his 'it's tough merging on the highway sometimes' comment convinced me to loosen up on the governed throttle pedal. I had it set at about 60%. Now it's closer to 90%. What a difference! Literally peeled out on 35's.. god help the neighborhood now!

Wired up my dual battery. I have the 91 3FE so used a tray from an FZJ. Made my own battery cables for the first time. Used the Blue Sea ACR. Not using any battery switcher (for now). Ran 1/0 under radiator support at the front of the hood to hide everything.
Still not a lot of room and have to figure out how to bolt the components in. Right now they are stashed and out of the way but not yet finalized.
I took some pics (will upload when back in town) and am intending to do a write up. I couldn't find too many people with FZJ style dual batteries in the 3FE because of the full desk of requirement.
