So, I make a right hand turn (everyone leans left), and the dome light in the back comes on.

1. What logic triggers the light? Doors open, sensor switch?

2. Is this a known thing?

Thoughts on where to troubleshoot this?

Broken spring inside a right-side door switch? Maybe a problem with alarm wiring, if you have one?

!GREMLINS! Be very careful.......

Happened to me a couple of years ago. Check your door latches. In my case my drivers door latch was just loose enough to allow the light to come on in turns.
Cheers,
Scot

Had the same issue with the Lexus on left turns and sometimes over bumps, but it was the front dome light. Cut plastic spacers out of a seltzer bottle to slip under the dome light switch mounted on the B pillar and space it out slightly. Done.

No alarm. I'll check the springs/door switch.

My theory is the leaning left might be an indicator to look on the left side door switches?

Ha, yep, I had the switching completely backwards in my head. Can't be a spring, but definitely could be a spacing issue.

I had the same issue with my driver's side door, after Line-x. The spacing was off just a little and I just put 2 layers of black duct tape on the door opposite the switch, but your method is cleaner and more well hidden than black tape on the door. lol

Genius!
Update on my son's 94. As you would turn left, dome light flickers as well. That tells you one of the passenger (LHD) front or rear door jam switches needs to be spaced out. I got inside the truck at night with all the doors closed and pushed outward on the front passenger door and the dome light came on. Did the same on the rear and the light didn't come on. Front passenger door switch is the culprit. I cut a 5/8" ID x 1/16" Nitrile o-ring in half (so I didn't have to disconnect the wire) to space out the switch. 1/10 banana job and takes all of 3 minutes with a 10mm socket and wrench.
