I’m running into an issue I’m hoping y’all can offer insight or advice on. I recently had Doug Thorley headers and a Borla Catback exhaust installed on my 2002 LX470. Post installation I took it for a state inspection since I’m overdue (I’m in Texas), and I failed. When I plugged in my OBD reader it looks like I’m throwing a number of errors from the O2 sensor which I’m assuming is due to more airflow coming through the engine?

I reached out to a few tuners and one is working to get a CaLID1 map from a software company for the ECU but he said that could take a few months (since it’s not currently supported). Am I overthinking this? Is their a simpler fix here or do I have to wait until my ECU is supported until I can safely drive my vehicle?

Get the truck hooked up to techstream.

Are your catalytic converters still installed?

4 out of your 7 Readiness Monitors have not been complete yet. You need certain drive patterns to complete all the readiness monitors.

Cat was welded onto the new exhaust. I don’t have a PC or techstream but I’m having a buddy come out this week with a PC to troubleshoot. Just ordered a mini VCI cable as well so I can hookup

DT headers and the Borla 14814 exhaust are bolt on products - no welding required unless you replaced your cats with aftermarket ones.

VCI cable was a good move. Techstream is a game changer.

Yeah, I've had this issue before as well when I had to replace a battery that died right before inspection was due. Engine computer had reset and the "not finished" or "not ready" code indicates that the computer doesn't have enough driving data yet to determine if the systems are operating properly. I may actually have this issue with my LC right now as I managed to run the battery flat while doing my steering system replacement and winch install over a month or so. This is a good reminder to me to hook up a scanner before I just run to get my annual inspection that was due last month.

That would trigger a CEL/MIL immediately - his report from the test shows none.
True, I’ll still go ensure the O2 sensor wire isn’t up against the manifold as I’ve seen in the Doug Thorley write up a few people forgot to move it out of the way and it melted. I had my mechanic install so I haven’t inspected that yet.

You're not throwing any codes, you just need to drive it to run your monitors. Go back to inspection in 2-3 weeks and you should be all good to go.
You’re 100% right. I let it run for a while and I drove it for a bit and the O2 sensors are now finished. I just need to figure out the cat monitoring and evap system monitoring issues since those are still showing unfinished. My guess is I need to drive some more and try to follow the guide that u/hoser replied with.

I failed to mention the engine was pulled out of the truck which is probably another big reason why I was throwing so many unfinished errors.

Just curious if the engine was pulled for the header install or if it's unrelated.

Yup, that a big "failed to mention", as they had to disconnect your battery to take everything out, however, even if the engine stayed in the truck, whenever you disconnect the battery you have to do certain drive cycles for the monitors to run. Just keep driving it and you should be able to pass inspection with no problems

Was pulled for the header install. The bolts were so rusted that the mechanic advised the engine pull. I wasn’t surprised, this thing spent 20+ years in Mew Jersey

Alright I was able to clear all the issues except the O2 sensors TID 31 and TID 32. These look to be the O2 sensors on the cats just before the exhaust. It appears the muffler shop my mechanic took my truck to welded the Borla exhaust on the cats just after these sensors. I wonder if not having the flange there is something that’s throwing these sensors off? Here’s some photos
