Like Deny says keep those springs on, after you add all that armor and spare tires and gear and whatever else you are probably going to use up all those springs - and need airbags too.

my feelings as well and it is easy enough to change the springs later if the height is too high.
Don't lower it, it looks perfect at that height. Once you add on all the accessories, and all the supplies it will drop some, then driving it for a few months with the heavy stuff on it will drop the suspension a bit as well. If you go down 2 inches then let it settle I would think after a year you may have tire rubbing issues with those larger tires.

keep the lift your going to need it.
You bought a 70 series high roof. If you didn't think it was going to be tall think again.
Your springs will break in and they will sag once you get the other stuff on. Don't worry about it.
With 33s and a 3 inch zeal lift the truck is probably 6'8" on me. Going to be even sweeter with 255s.
I love the big tires look of your rig. Keep it your going to love it. Trust me.

It seems it has an American look like it could fall from a plane and bounce with out bottoming the suspension out. Just pulling your chain;):p. With all the weight of the armor and spare tires including the sag over time , it will be just fine. You will be surprised just how far over it will go before it falls.
I must say though, the first major off camber hill you encounter, you may have to stop for a maintenance wipe.
Really nice build, keep it up.
Take care

With regards to splits, they are a pain in the bush as you end to get rub spots on the tubes and multiple flats. Even the last mate to use them gave up after his last 2 week trip as he got 12 flats all due to tube rub.

Whenever I use one and need to change a tube I do the re-inflating with the wheel laying down with the ring to the ground so if it does let go it will generally fire it into the ground not 30 feet away or thru your head and I don't stand anywhere near it. Operate the compressor remotely.

Widening the stance makes a huge difference. I chose a 2.5 inch back spaced rim that gave me a total of three more inches of axle width. I noticed the difference right away. Wheel spacers work just as good.
Mine is probably around the same overall height and it feels fine on off camber. The other thing that I did that helped the was to have the bump stops set up so when it is tilting and at max flex, the tilting would stop and come up hard on the bump stop giving you a secure feeling.

Take Care

just got off the phone with the owner and we have decided to go with 2" spacers to widen the stance and to keep the look of the truck "natural" once the armor goes back on.

pradocruzer, i agree completely about the bump stops. on all my lifts i drop the bump stops the same distance as the lift that was installed. it does make a world of difference when side hilling.

cheers

what we can do is install the stock springs back on and sell the lift.
this will remove 2+ inches from the height. the stock springs are in excellent shape.
so, once we get everything done and reinstalled we will install with the stock ones then you make the call one way or the other.
yes, it is tall.

Yeah just rub talcum powder all over the tube. It just makes the tube slippery and less prone to getting abrasion inside the tire.

About the 2 inch spacers are you planning on doing that on either side? Fender flares? Or will this suit the truck and the tires fit nicely underneath? I have always been told that adding spacers is just increasing your leverage on your running gear. More prone to breaking stuff in my eyes. Especially running big tires if you plan on beating the s*** out of it.

Just a thought.

Bruce, i did think about installing just wider axles but th eowner wants to be able to remove the armor if so desired. also this allows him to run wider tires if wanted by just removing the spacers.

this gives him the options he wants.

FB, spacers add the same leverage as a wider tire does. i have heard this ... concern ... over the decades but have never experienced it. i do know that a wide foot print can lead to the tire wanting to crown an uneven road surface. with the narrower tire with 2" offset is still a narrow foot print.

when the 35 fats were installed for the armor construction the tire seemed to fit very nicely under. i will be reinstalling the armor shortly and see how the tires look. if it looks goofy then the spacers go on. if not then a decision will be made at that time which way to go. i like the idea of wider base for stability.

It will look as goofy as the gx 80 series with the factory flares I see getting around with std skinny splits on it

I understand and it isn't a bad plan. I wanted to be able to get really wide for events so I decided to use wide axles and run FGL wheels with 5.5" backspacing on the highway and swap to some 2" BS wheels with agro tires for events like Tough Trail. So far I have never done so.

i got an email from the owner and he has decided to discuss running wider axles.
i will report up the ?final? decision.

cheers

Wider axles meaning using wheel spacers? Won't wheel spacers put undue stress on the wheel bearing and cause early failure?
