i wanted expanded metal for on the sliders, it is great since your feet don't slip when wet or muddy, you can scrape the mud off your boots before getting inside.
but
we had to allow for the bolt on front and rear fender protection so additional 1" tube support was welded in.

the welding of the expanded steel completed.
now to tap and make protection for the air inlet, these are air tanks.

Cool I like the idea of having sliders as air tanks. I wonder how many pounds you can put in them.
Curious to see when the tanks are done.
Wayne is there and ETA when this could be done?

the swing out retainer installed, simple and effective.
the rubber retainer/stop/support. once the arms seat into these there is ZERO movement but still allows for any frame twist the might happen while off roading.

after reassembly for final fitting before shipping to the PC we found that climbing up onto the roof COULD lead to a foot slipping on the top step so we extended the surface by welding 1/2" solid pipe to the side.
this effectively double the surface area and still being strong enough to stand hitting rocks or trees...

ARB, but i suspect there are just as good units out there that are less expensive ... i had one here but Bruce bought it off me last year.
talk to John at Radd Cruisers and see what he recommends.

they were the "in thing" a couple years back with the Alaska trek boys and the RMLCA group.

powder coating of the armor is now done and will be picked up next week.

61MK=trucks looking great! I am on the road now using my dual voltage ARB MT 24. It has been the best, affordable, unit for me traveling so far.

Hello All,
I am beginning to consider the interior, and have a question: do any of you in Cruiserland know which 12volt fridge is the most reliable? Any help is appreciated.

Cheers, 61Mk+

61mk

what do you have planned for the interior?
I would do a new arb fridge. That is my plan at least.

I have the ARB and they are great, but they are either a freezer or fridge. For long trips I would get definitely get a twin zone fridge and freezer.

so after a nightmare at the border i arrived home with the 6 large tires.
as you can see they are substatially larger than the 315 / 16 and about the same size as the 36" tractor tires.
i love the depth of the outer lugs and the tight center ribs. all i would do is sipe the tire right away. this allows more heat dissipation, better grip on the highway and on ice and show and will quiet the tire down somewhat.
very nice height, nice width and not as heavy as i originally thought. :bounce:
