TRD Brake Pads

Last month I turned the rotors and installed the TRD Pads on the front of my 08 model, from what I read here on the forum the consensus was they were good pads with improved braking. A few hundred miles on them and I'm getting brake vibrations from the rotors and the brake dust from the pads are twice as bad as what the stealership put on before which were an OEM pad. I will swap to new rotors and maybe go back to the Wagner Thermo Quiet pads I used on my 80, Sequoia and 3/4 Ton Dodge for a decade with no issues quiet and dust free. They last about 50K normal wear. Good thread I'll be looking into rotor solutions I don't have to touch the back for a bit.

The TRD pads definitely produce more dust, but well worth it for me given the improved braking. I also run them on my 4Runner. Haven’t had any issues with them on either rig.

Your the second person I read online that had problems with the TRD pad using turned rotors. I personally buy new rotors and pads each time and I haven't had any issues. They definetly do make more brake dust but its a compromise I am willing to live with to get better performance.

Normally I always turn my rotors on my vehicles, brake shop charges me $20 a rotor to resurface them. They didn't have much of a lip but I always do it anyway to break in the new pads well the TRD pads and resurfaced rotors aren't getting along

The TRD pads work on the 16+. I ran them for a bit but found them noisy... performance was better though. I settled on Terrain Tamer pads that provided better performance, less noise, but much more dust.

I have them on my 18 LX. Love em (except for all the extra brake dust). Definite improvement over the stock pads.
Do you just replace brake pads or do you also replace with TRD rotors? Do you have the part #'s by chance?

IMO, there no point to ever turn rotors. Many places are getting away from the practice and don't even offer the service anymore. Turning rotors is a temporary solution, because if they need to be turned, it's just flat out better to replace them. For the cost of rotors, it just makes sense to do it once, and enjoy the longer useful life. Turning rotors also takes away mass, the ONE thing that really keeps rotors healthy as more mass moderates higher peak temps which is what causes distortion and uneven pad transfer.

And I'll use stock rotors everytime unless it's really high end rotors. Most compare new rotors to worn rotors. Of course the new, even aftermarket, are going to be better. But I trust OEM levels of quality control. And I'll take stock pads for the lesser dust, better cold performance, and the easier wear on rotors.

I have always replace with new rotor when replacing pad on my 80 and 100. And like the EBC green pads a lot. Improve braking and quite but dust too.

What are the part numbers for the TRD front and rear brake pads for a 2013? I can’t seem to find them. The ones linked in this post PTR090C111 and PTR090C110 are showing that they don’t fit on the 2013.

Also curious.

You should buy that Dust Deputy. I have one and it really works amazingly well!

Amazon just uses a stock part matching system AFAIK, so these wouldn't show as fitting because they're not the stock brake pad.

Well, but the TRD website also doesn't show an application for the '13-15 range.

Didn't the front brakes change in '16? Slightly larger rotor?

I have ran two sets of the TRD pads. First set was great other than being dirty. Second set had an issue with my rotors after several thousand miles - ceramic build up on my rotors, that was my counsels best educated guess. The rotor vendor, frozen rotors, sent me a new pair for free and asked that I not go back to ceramic, which I gladly listened and agreed to. Frozen rotors asked that I use the hawk LTS pads which I did and I love them. Nowhere near as dirty and less than half the TRD price. Loved the TRD's but wont be buying them again. Hawk has my attention now - check it out and learn about it boys.
