That would work my concern was getting the hose below might catch on sticks rocks etc and damage the hose. Best way is to take a 3/8 rubber hose and hold it up to each fill hole and determine what the center of fill plug is to center of fill plug. Give me that measurement and could get one made next time we place a group order.

True, but if he still runs a skid plate, then he should be OK. John

By pass hose

Just came across this. Do you have any more of these hoses and what do they sell for? Thanks,JB

Installed my bypass hose yesterday. Thanks Lou for the fine product results. Install experience - When I discovered this problem a month ago, I topped up the TC and awaited bypass hose (ambient temp 15 degrees colder than now). Yesterday I opened trans fill plug first and captured ~10-12 ounces of fluid, then installed that end of bypass hose. I then opened TC fill plug and installed that end of hose. During this process I lost some additional fluid from both TC and bypass hose. I think both units are full but wanted to see if anyone else had a similar experience or if ambient temp would contribute? The FJ was cold/not driven.

When I did my 74 I got about 8 ounces of oil out of the transmission. Then had to put new oil back in the transfercase to replace the oil that went to the transmission. The only thing temp has to do is how thick that oil becomes. As you drive it it heats up the transfer case and transmission thinning out the oil. You should be fine if you topped off the transfer case to replace what went to the transmission.

I have a one piece t-case w/ US 4 spd (which one is that? H41 or H42?)
When I got your standard length hose, I realized I had a potential conflict w/ the PTO box. I did not have a lot of time, so I put the put the skid plate back on and opted to try the standard length hose another time.
You don't remember any of this?

UPS tracking says the last of the group 5 hoses will be in tomorrow. They should be able to go out the next day as by the time we get them processed the postman will have already been to my location. I will email you a USPS Priority Mail tracking number.

This is what I worked on today after being drenched with gear oil coming from the tranny.

Thanks for all of the info!

Wow, my hose showed up and what a beautiful piece it is, hate to hide it down below. I'm sure Jezebel will know it's there. Kind of like wearing expensive panties under your work clothes. :pig: I hope to install this weekend, pics if possible.
Thanks shipmag,
Mike
