There is a place in Michigan that sells foam cheap and free shipping when you hit the minimum order. The Foam factory. I just bought an M-4 for Christmas. I already have an M-1s90. You can cut it with a bandsaw. At a former employer we made cutouts for guns in cases

For what it’s worth...my M4 in that tailgate setup photo is modified....which may matter if you are planning a similar arrangement.
-Shorter stock from Mesa Tactical (highly recommended...very nice, with adjustable cheek, nicer grip...unless you’re in a state that allows the adjustable stock...CA no bueno), larger charge handle (which perfectly braces the weapon against the lid...keeping it wedged), and a number of other modifications including feed tube and forward grip. So...if it looks a bit different for an M4, that’s why.

The standard M4 will easily fit the tailgate, but with use a bit more of the length. If I lived in a state where I could use a fully collapsible stock, it would also free up significant space..

PS. The pistol grip that comes with the Mesa Tactical stock is fantastic. Highly recommended.

TourFlex coils on @indycole truck. @orangefj45 and crew installed the coils down in Stockton at Valley Hybrids.

Cole came up to work on an electrical project for me and pick up some custom aluminum goodies. Aluminum storage box and tailgate lid.

Thanks again for the support and friendship Cole.

Jason

Reference pic for the size of space it provides.

Very cool!!!!!

Georg @ Valley Hybrids & Cruiser Brothers

Thanks for the great service installing the coils.

Rig ended up with an approx. 5/8" rake and this is one heavy beast. The ride IMO is very nice for the weight of the rig. Some tuning of the shocks are in order, but pretty close at the moment.

ground to fender well is 37.00-37.125"

New Trail Taylor rear coils are in, and man, the improvement in ride even just initially is pretty stunning.

I am in a HEAVY rig, so it’s harder to find a balance of Weight bearing grunt, yet still maintain easy flex and handling both small, jittery stuff, while still eating the big hits. I’ll do some rougher testing in the coming days and wreport back, but man...I am super impressed so far and that’s an understatement.

These new coils are pretty unique with their fully tapered design—a taller build—but that doesn’t raise the rear to ridiculous heights.

Once I get things dialed in with compression/rebound (adjustments which will likely be felt more readily now!)...I’ll post more impressions. So far, I’m smiling.

I love that color!

@Markuson glad you are enjoying the coils thus far. Ive run them on my 100s for the past 2.5 years and love them. I run heavy rigs as well and wanted a coil that could handle the weight and could still hit the trails/rocks with ease.

Raining cats and dogs in sunny San Diego...so washboard and bumpier test run is on hold.

Meanwhile, I figured out a good description for the general difference between these springs and my 2725’s—

—You know how annoyingly-bumpy stuff on trails is greatly tamed by airing down? -Not for traction, but just taking the jolts?
—Well that’s the kind of what the improvement feels like. Waaay more smooth handling of stuff that was simply too small for my other springs to readily respond to. That’s at full psi. So when I also air down? Predicting serious reduction in the brain-rattling-jitters.

So what was the specs of these rear springs again? Free height, bar diameter, wraps, ibf/in?

I know Jason said it somewhere before but I wasn’t in this thread.

I’ll let Jason answer bc I’m frankly not sure of all specs.
Decided to try these after @indycole had a good result and after talking with Jason. Cole was also on 2725’s like me, and was finding them similarly harsh—even though he is heavier than me.

I do know is these are intended for 660-1100# load so for pretty heavy builds.

Also a lighter version available for up to 660#...so more like a fully loaded rear bumper with swingouts plus drawers, etc. I’m heavier than that with sub-tank, water, 100lb spare, etc.

Heavy- 525/515 Free height, 9.8 wraps, 14mm-20.5mm wire diameter, 320/260 spring rate (King's recommended load is 660-1100#)

Medium- 560/545 Free height, 9.8 wraps, 13mm-19.0mm wire diameter, 270/220 spring rate( King's recommended load is 0-660#, but mine is 200-660#)

The wire diameter never stops increasing on these coils. Basically a pigtail. You cannot calculate these coils the same as the standard progressive and linear coils with single or two different wire diameters.
