Jessica and I had a great time wheeling with y'all today. It's always fun putting faces to the names.. Thanks again for letting us tool along

Chevron? That was confusing...the gas station was GIANT...?!??

Anyways - that was a sweet run. From 9am-6pm = lots of cruisin.

I managed to bend a huge arc in my passenger running board...lol......then I jumped on it a bunch of times to bend it down. That managed to somehow pull it away from the body, so it was uneven. I then slammed it on another rock which put it back to its original spot - good as new!

It was great riding with everyone - lots of fun. Remembering to gas up and bring food helped A LOT!

Now I gotta get back into budgeting for some mods for the LX so I can lift it and make it a little more capable.

So, what was that snakebite story one of the Pink Jeeps told us about?

A few pics from the Sedona runs yesterday; thanks to John for leading the trails. It was great riding those trails with everyone!

Notes:
... Chevron at the Y in Sedona has got to have the slowest pump ever - more that 15 minutes to put 20 gal in the K5, time to go to the bathroom, get the permit, etc. while the pump is running... maybe they have an inline refinery going, that's why it's so slow. But quite possibly, that was the most enchanted gasoline ever...

... most of the Pink Heep drivers were corteous, except two of 'em...

... traffic jams on a tight trail ain't fun; the trails themselves sure were, though!

... good driving from the unlifted/unlocked crowd!

... the K5 held up, despite some expectations to the contrary... don't you 'Cruiserfolks worry, it'll break soon enough! :grinpimp:

... After some antics w/ forward vs. reverse in an inappropriate location, the driver :princess: in the blue FJ40 wins the 'free-adrenaline-for-everyone' award... :bounce: :bounce2: :bounce: :whoops:

It was a long day, we had a nice dinner over at the casino, and made it back to town at 12:40 a.m.

Not a lot of pictures here, photo opportunities from the tailgunner position are usually limited...

Question out of technical interest for John: the climbs out of the canyons on GreasySpoon where your truck slid a bit sideways and twisted: were you locked, or were you working this traction control thingy in the 100? It seemed that lockers and a slight bump should have sufficed; that's how the rest of us drove these spots. Or does the front not get enough traction due to the IFS not transferring enough weight (compared to SFA) on the drooped tire in this situation?

By the way, this is Michael, I don't have photo posting privilege, so I have to use my alter ego... here's a few more pics; by the way, all these were from Broken Arrow Trail. And before someone complains about the twisted camera, give it a rest: maybe it wasn't that steep, but it sure always feels that way... and what's with all those dark trucks, dark vehicle color just won't photograph well...

haha...snakebite...

We were winding our way around to the end of the trail and passed like 5-6 jeeps together and they asked where everyone else was...

My passenger AJ just said "We're leavin early - We got a snakebite!"

I was like.....WTF?

I guess he figured it would be funny and random because we were heading out down the trail a little fast without the group - but I thought it might not be funny if the Jeeps radio'ed in for help or something...

My daughter and I also had a good time. It was great to meet everyone, even in the infamous Shotts;) . Thanks for leading John. I can hardly wait to get the improvements underway on an already capable rig (mallcruiser).

Hope to see everyone soon for another run.

Great day for wheeling, a little rain the night before knocked the dust down and made for clear veiws. Eleven trucks showed up, 2 x 100s, 5 x 80s, 2 x 40s, a nissan and a GMC.

You guys let the Nissan in there? I warned you about that guy...

the dune beige FJ40 was all stock, and the driver was on his first more challenging wheeling trip (apart from having owned the rig 35 years and driven it on milder desert trails); always great to have another 40 on the trail :grinpimp:

Oh man that looks like a load of fun!! So bummed I missed it. The weather WAS gorgeous on Saturday.

GF was in town that day, so we met up with friends for brunch at Coffeepot, then hung out at the Brewery, soaking up the sun on the patio. Had a good time, except I left my backpack there, and someone nicked it. So they got my digicam and a few other goodies. :crybaby:

Important lesson for me, don't drink and carry around anything valuable.

Thanks to everybody who came out. Becky and I had a blast. I'll post some pics and stuff when I get caught up at work.
