Trade 04 LC100 for FJ40 ?

Depends on how you plan to use it. I love my wife's Hundo for daily driving and long roads trips. If you want a weekend warrior or around the towner the 40 might be fun. But they are slow, loud and lacking many comforts. 60 series might be a good compromise, and you would get more for your buck. Life is short, do what brings you joy.

Have you been in an old fj40 for any length of time? They are like basic transportation to anywhere. Slow, noisy, no power steering AC or other automatic creature comforts to speak of. All that stuff can be added for $$$ and time.

On the other hand I still have my first car - so that says something about old LC's.

I have a 04 LC 100 w/ 93k miles. 2nd owner / original family. As close to clean as you can get. Would love trade my truck for an FJ40-45, B or similar of equal value. Is this a realistic idea or do I need psychological testing.

When you entered this forum, the need for psychological testing was assumed…😁

Gotta ask the question “Why”? Is your 100 series a DD? Trail rig? I curse the day we sold our 100 series. Just sayen…

I’ll incur the wrath of the forum elders here but, owning a 40 series is like having a jealous lover. It will demand all your time, money and attention. It wont take no for an answer and the “ride” isn’t quite what you thought it would be when you’re older…

Don’t get me wrong, I’m a glutton for punishment, love my 40 series….Most days.

Best bet is to kick your idea/proposal over to the classifieds…🍿 You may be ahead to sell it outright, stick the extra $$$ in you pocket. You’ll need it owning a 40 series.

Would be difficult to find just the right fj40 owner to trade for a 100. I would just sell it and buy a fj40
Completely agree with this. Not saying you are not potentially successful in doing this, but finding another party who is interested in a low mileage 100 series and also has a 40 series in the type/condition that you are seeking has a very low probability, especially if you aren’t making some meaningful compromises on one end or the other. On the other hand, selling the 100 series to the full marketplace, and then picking a 40 from all that is out there as a cash buyer, your compromises will only be determined by your budget.
