I really think you're out of the ballpark with your price. I currently have an ad selling these for $80 and somebody can buff and paint their own . That price would even be too steep a price for eBay. Check around on ih8mud for what these have been going for.

Listen guys, these are RARE. Owning and driving a Toyota is no longer about improving the quality of your life, its about improving the quality of someone else's life. Its not the Toyota way anymore, it's the American way. Pay up and blame the price on supply and demand.

Just stating that something is rare does not make it rare. This item commands anywhere from 75 to $100 on ih8mud.

Hi KevO,

Thanks for your input! I understand your point—there are definitely options for people to buff and paint their own handles. The price I listed reflects that this handle is prepped, in great condition, and ready to install, which saves the buyer time and effort. I’ve also checked listings like eBay and other IH8MUD posts to make sure it’s competitive.

If you’d like, feel free to message me directly for more details or to reserve it—I’m happy to answer any questions.

Crazy price!! Guess they will have a few in stock for a decade!!🤪
Hi Whitey

Haha, I get where you’re coming from! 😅 These handles can definitely look pricey compared to rougher ones out there. Mine is priced based on condition, originality, and ready-to-install quality—for buyers who don’t want to deal with restoration work. They’re harder to source in this condition, so that’s what the value reflects.

If you or anyone you know is interested, feel free to drop me a message—I’d be glad to share more details or hold one aside.

Yeah, but the shipping is free !!
Hi Bear,

Exactly! 😊 The price includes free shipping, which makes it even more convenient for the buyer. Considering the handle is ready to install and in great condition, this saves both time and effort compared to sourcing and restoring one yourself.

If you want, feel free to message me directly for more details or to reserve it—I’d be happy to help.

Hi ,Walker,

Haha, I see what you mean! 😅 These handles are indeed rare and hard to find in this condition, which is reflected in the price. It’s not just about having a Toyota—it’s about getting quality, ready-to-install parts without the hassle of restoring them yourself.

If anyone’s seriously interested, feel free to message me directly for more details or to reserve one—I’m happy to help.

@FJ40king : Is the asking price for one handle or two?

It says above "Professionally remanufactured---", however the photos appear to show a Reproduced part (new reproduction), correct?

Where are these handles manufactured (COO, Country of Origin)?

What are the specs of the steel used (type, thickness, etc) for the handles and what is the COO for that steel?

What type of metal treatment (Zinc? if any) and which coating has been applied (1k paint, 2k primer/paint, Epoxy paint, Cerakote)??

Do you have an original handle to compare side-by-side with one of the reproduction handles?

Hi Kernal,

Great questions — I really appreciate the attention to detail. Let me clarify:
  • These handles are professionally remanufactured using original Toyota cores (not brand-new reproductions).
  • The work is carried out in Japan and all parts are carefully inspected before finishing.
  • The steel used matches OEM spec — original Toyota grade steel”.
  • Finishing process (for remanufactured handle):
    • Handle is stripped down and cleaned to bare metal.
    • Rust/imperfections are removed and the surface is prepared.
    • A zinc rust-inhibiting primer is applied for protection.
    • Finished with durable 2K automotive paint for long-lasting gloss and scratch resistance.
    • And yes, I do have an original handle for comparison, and the remanufactured ones line up perfectly in fit and dimensions.

If you’d like, I can share more technical details via direct message. Just let me know — happy to provide whatever you need to feel confident.

It appears ChatGPT is starting a Land Cruiser parts company

Looks like a canned response. His reply started out referring to a dash handle and ended up referencing a steering wheel

@FJ40king :

Could you please post a photo of a used original handle and a remanufactured handle sitting across from each other in the same photo
for comparison. Could you also include in the same photo the top front page of your local newspaper (across the bottom of the photo under
the handles) showing today's date on the newspaper.

I also would like to be a Beta tester so if you could kindly send one of your handles at no charge (I promise to return it when I'm done)
I can evaluate it here for the group.

Please list your contact information in this thread.

Thank you
PT Barnum

ps: would it be possible to cut one grab handle in half to make two and if so which method would be better, to cut it in half lengthwise or transversely?
