Thanks everyone that was interested ;)

Will someone either make a gross of these or post the circuit diagram/pinout for them?

Do you have the skills to reverse engineer something like this?
Possibly, but I'd have to see the details. If not, I do know a retired nuclear electrical engineer; I doubt this is beyond him.

This was posted on the Facebook page (TOYOBD1 Users | Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/groups/1505898572959292/) 16 hours ago, looks like the sale is now.

@Malleus I have a unit and I opened it up for curiosity--it is dead simple, just a cheap microcontroller attached to a bluetooth module. Duplicating the microcontroller firmware and software for the Android app would be most of the work. Here are the details of the Toyota OBD1 protocol: OBD-1 Serial Interface - Toyota Wiki - http://toyota.kgbconsulting.ca/wiki/OBD-1_Serial_Interface. It is a serial port connection, would be pretty easy to duplicate except one would need the different sensor curves that convert sensor voltage reading into actual values like temperature. A few more links:

I worry about my unit breaking and up until now they have been unobtanium, would be nice to have a backup.

Apparently, you had to be one of the "special friends" to get in on the deal.

Its a unicorn. Sells out within seconds. You got competition with all JDM gearheads looking for it.

Anyone know how I can obtain one of these or who to contac

Does he or anyone still actively make them though?
He does in batches maybe 1x or 2x per yr...<20qty. Mostly ppl from Europe gobble them up and as far as Australia and middle east.

How much are you willing to spend on a used one? Ppl do sell used ones when they part ways with their vehicles.

Over the years I was able to obtain three of these, and I am not a friend of the maker.
What one needs to know is these are good for diagnostic only.
Or you need to extend the wires so you can get it in the cab.
I wanted to use mine for real time engine temp.
The first one I had melted inside the engine compartment, so the second one I moved as far away from the engine that the cord would allow and put it in a little insulated box. It lasted longer, but still burned up.
That’s why I sold the third one.
I don’t think it’s the builders fault it’s just not designed to be used in Extreme heat.
If you want one of these, you should know that going in.
In short, these are not designed for real time use only for diagnostic purposes.

The one I sold was sold at my cost no scalping or profit
But that’s just me😉

What Broski said....but unplugg it when you jump your rig otherwise it will fry its PCBA.
I mainly used it to monitor my coolant temp. Bought like 3 and but lost the 3rd one
Sorry it's not for sale....

I don't know what the original cost was but was figuring $100-$150 . I was thinking I would extend it into the cab if need be. Mainly want it for diag .

I only paid 50 or 60 bucks for the first one.
Like everything else they went up with each purchase.

I now use a koso temp gauge to monitor real time engine temperatures.

That wouldn’t be bad at all if I can find one. Im chasing a intermittent miss-or stumble would be nice to see any codes and data easier. My other 80 is LS swapped, wishing I would have kept more parts and sensors from it for the second one.

Great idea on the Koso monitor then i could do coolant temp and a wide band.

I second what @Broski said, it's a super useful tool for diagnostics but isn't built for full time engine compartment temperatures.

After running mine for a week the sticker started peeling off due to heat so I pulled it out before it was damaged.
