I made my first trip this weekend with the 100 series, WITH the OME suspension and the Slee Bumper.

I was towing my 2600# rock rig on a 1000# tandem axle aluminum trailer.

StorageMax box was full of tools and we had 1 cooler on board.

No spares for the trailer or Buggy.

Loaded, the 863 rear springs barely settled when I centered the buggy over the axles on the trailer.

In fact, I drove the buggy to the front of the 16' trailer and the springs barely settled to make the rig level. 863s can carry a load!

I decided since the trip was only 1 hour away I would tow with the 33" Nitto Terra Grapplers on instead of swapping my street/tow tires back on the Cruiser.

The road is very hilly, but freeway and open 2 lane the entire trip. 3 miles are mixed in there of gravel road.

The Cruiser got 9 mpg towing 70-75 mph mixing it up between Overdrive and Drive. In the overly hilly sections, I took it out of OD and it ran that speed at 3100-3200 RPM and never kicked into 2nd on the long hills.

Running it in OD, the Cruiser would kick down midway up long inclines, but it would stay in D and not hunt much, making it seem fine to run the load in OD when the road is relatively flat.

In summary, the lifted Cruiser with stock gears and 33's did a good job of pulling my 3600-4000# load this weekend.

Is it my Duramax? No, but it is very nice being in a Cruiser for the ride.........

I too was pleased with the 863s on my 80 when I tried out a couple of trailers. Barely went down 1/2 inch or so, which is probably about 250 lbs down on the hitch.

It's no diesel by a long shot but I've been happy with the towing manners of the 100 as well.

Good to hear about your towing experience....but 9mpg sure reduces the 100's range in a hurry...not to mention the wallet lightening

wngrog: You must be closer to sea level than me...without trailer, as my 100 is equipped, hills/passes around here, always get it into 2nd!
