found a guy local who has a complete tool roll, good canvas from a mid 60's rig.

what is a fair price? he's asking $500. I was thinking $300.

Once my restoration is nearing completion, I am sure I'll be pretty happy to pay the $500 for a nice original tool roll...but I have time yet, and other things to buy first...

Paul, spanner sets with the blue clip sell for 200 alone, I think 500 is probably fair market value, I guess it depends how bad you want one!

I paid more than $500 for mine :o but it was complete and some of the tools were still in the original plastic, so I don't feel too bad

Auction here JDM TOYOTA TOOL SET FJ40 TEQ LAND CRUISER BOX 4RUNNER WRENCH FJ55 4RUNNER TACOMA | eBay

And for later when the listing has been deleted Sold for $171.50 with shipping $27.00 from Japan. Looks like he has another one listed. Looks like it only has five spanners which is what was shown for JDM in the early years. Export got six. Also included a 10 inch adjustable wrench. Would that be the 250MM wrench from the earlier kits? I know in later years the adjustable wrench got smaller.

Listing for a complete tool kit starting at $590 NOS Toyota Land Cruiser Early Canvas Tool Roll Complete | eBay It's listed as late sixties early seventies but the kit from my 1970 still had the hammer, ignition adjusting set, pocket for the index card as well as pocket for the owner's manual.

Edited my post. Guessing it is from around 72. Would have to check to see if there is any info on my 73's owner's manual as far as the kit goes. I think around that time it was a zipper pouch and not a roll anymore.

The guy who I picked this kit up from offered them and the hub caps for free if I would help hime sell his 1970 FJ40. I wouldn't take them for free and paid him. But isn't wasn't anywhere near $500. But in the end I bought the FJ40 myself and paid him his asking price so I don't feel like I ripped him off.

OK, here are the pics.

next question is when did the lug wrench go from a 1 piece to a 2 piece design?

Oh dear, that is sweet!!!

My guess is that the lug wrench was a more recent purchase and probably a replacement and not the original to the roll, but not sure, as I do not know when they switched over from a two piece to a one piece.

Wish I had one of these...that is a great find

the one piece lug wrench is correct for your tool kit

per your owners manual, I'd say you have a '64 to '67 tool roll

the lug wrench changed from two piece to one piece after '62, when the lug bolts changed from 23mm to 21mm

Thanks for the info Sean

Could we then establish that since it has the 4Wheel logo on the owners manual, that this would have been from '65...as this would be when this same logo appeared on the '65 40s?

guy I bought it from said it was out of a '67, picked up some other stuff from him also. the guy knows his cruisers.
him not having the rig anymore, maybe it was an earlier rig registered as a 67???

then another question....are the owners manuals different for 45's? any one have pics?

fixed my original post, I could have sworn that all the models displayed in the beginning pages of that style owners manual had vented windshields. definitely not past '67 though, the illustrations all show ribbed dashes and page 24 shows the odd 3 bolt rear view mirror. most of the other pictures depict earlier
