Looks like my next steps involve a TPMS computer - I would like one that is capable of cloning. Autel was a brand recently recommended to me in another thread. Could you share any suggestions on where to buy one to support a 'mud vendor and get a fair deal? This is going to be a rarely used tool for me (maybe even only once), so I don't want to spend a fortune.

Gadzooks! That's not the price range I was expecting. I thought I read $200 for computer and a set of clone-able sensors. Are there more economical options that can get the job done, or anyone willing to rent me one?

You already have techstream, right? Why not just get the correct OE sensors? Most aftermarket, including Autel have a 5 year life. The Densos have a 7-12 year life.

try this as a place to start: Amazon product ASIN B07RGZR2M2
I got the TS-408 computer off amazon warehouse. It is as you indicate infrequently used, but I do trot it out as my OEM sensors fail.

Bonus, I can do the sensors on my other cars too . . .

x2

Only downside is having to reprogram the IDs every time you swap wheels. You already have the good cable. Did you get techstream working? Once you figure out the process it should be quick.

May not be a big deal, but when I bought my sensors from Amazon, I looked for some that were actually sold by Amazon versus sold by some random vendor and FBA (fulfilled by amazon). You may have difficulties returning them if there were an issue with some random vendor.

Techstream is working for me. Perfectly.

I appears that I got the wrong sensors per Denso fitment tables.

I was told I could get the computer and new sensors for what a set of new Pacific/Denso sensors would cost.

I'm that source, right . . . $70 + 5*$30= $220
if you have techstream to get the current ids, you can then program using the pad 5 cloned sensors with those same ids.

Did you consider the Carista device? I have one, works great.

I agree, and have mentioned it can be a good solution for someone that doesn't want to get Techstream working. However, OP has Techstream, so paying fees for Carista doesn't make sense for him.

Just get this set, seller seems to have decent feedback. This is the correct PMV-C015, and a set of 4 new sensors is $40 (you'll need to get a 5th, I'd message seller):

YMMV, but I took a set of new sensors into Discount in 2019, and they broke the beads and replaced all for me for no charge. I knew they programmed for free, but this was above and beyond. Their whole crew got Pizza delivered as a thanks. Good to show appreciation for above and beyond customer service.

Unfortunately, I live in relatively rural nowhere, so the nearest Discount Tire chain store is over 250 miles away. There is probably someplace up here, most likely a small shop, that would hook me up in normal times, but these are obviously very different times.

My local discount wanted $20 a wheel. Les Schwab 18$ plus fees. This didn’t include the sensors. I had 10 to do, so financed myself into some irons, a tpms computer, and a bubble balancer. Got all that, learned a fair bit, that will come in handy someday, and was $ ahead.
All good except I couldn’t mount the 129 load lt e set. That is as a stiff stiff bead.

Do you have a Town Fair Tire near you? They will also read/reset TPMS registrations for free, and I had good luck with them, especially if you flip the guy a $20. That was before I invested in the Calista dongle and app, so I don't have to go all the way to Portsmouth anymore and wait in line.

I have the Autel MK808TS. It's not cheap but sure have used it a lot. I originally purchased it from Amazon along with 4 of their tpms's for my 4runner. To this day i've had a hell of time getting them to sync and recently disabled the low tire pressure light. Putting that silly experience aside, when I had the supercharger installed in my 4R, we had lots of silly little nagging things for several months and I used this machine a lot to diagnose, track, and when necessary delete CEL's. finally thanks to the correct tune everything is great, but without this device I could not have guided the tuner at all and it ultimately would have taken longer. I now keep it in the glove box of my 4R. I have yet to connect it to my LC.
