Too late to get into a new 200?

Was just thinking whether i should wait till August/Sept for the launch of the 300...

LOL

... as others have mentioned, the 300 is nowhere in site. BUT, even if it was due out tomorrow, the 200 has a very long shelf life and one of the highest resale values of any vehicle on the market. The 200 is widely regarded as the strongest vehicle Toyota has ever made - it won’t be going anywhere any time soon.

If you want a 200, get yourself a 200 and enjoy if for the next 25 years or so. You can always trade it in or sell if the 300 is too good to resist.

I concur, what is this "100 has reached the end of it's life" statement??? care to elaborate? Miles?

465,000 km. Engine needs a rebuild. Solid car though and it’s got me out every situation imaginable!!!! Legend.

Cheers for the advice buddy !

I just talked with a toyota salesman in Qatar and he says 2023 for the new 300, but who knows what reality is. He said people here will jump on the new model and the 200s will be worth a ton less. It'll be a good time to pick up a nice 200, for sure. Hopefully that is the case stateside too!

That’s definitely the conventional wisdom but - I just searched autotrader and 100 series land cruisers are still selling for 30-40% of their original MSRP. Last I checked, the 80’s, 70’s and 60’s are still selling for decent coin as well. I sold my 97 for $17k, 40% of its original MSRP - it was 22 years old.

So you’re probably right that conventional wisdom holds for most models but land cruisers do seem to break that rule. I’d argue that even 35% of original MSRP on a 13 year old vehicle (2007 100 Series) is definitely not a “ton less”.

I’m also not* in Qatar so I’ve got no clue what resale is really like...so there’s that...

Agree stateside, but land cruisers are a dime a dozen in Qatar, and culturally, folks upgrade to the new models very quickly. So I'm told...

I also sold multiple 80 series and 100 series for surprisingly good resale in the US, and expect that I could sell my Amazon green 200 for a good price if I tried. I think we have more of a used car market in the US, but I am only going on heresay for the Qatar market. My sample size of opinions is pretty small. :)
