Hello All
First I would like to congratulate you all , for this extraordinary forum . As you , I love Land Cruisers , old and new , and I collect much valuable info from MUD . So it is time for me to share some info I found some weeks ago , that I think is very interesting to the FJ25 group . By mere chance I found a picture with an old Land Cruiser , taken In Luanda , Angola , back in the late 60s , when Angola was still a Portuguese colony . It is a bad quality picture , from behind the Land Cruiser , so it is not really possible for me to tell if it is an FJ25 or an early FJ40 . That picture made me very curious . Such an early Cruiser in Angola , before the independence ? Who was the importer ? Made a lot of phone calls and found what I think to be information of some relevance , at least for those who care for Land Cruiser / Toyota History :
The 1st importer of Toyota to Angola , was established in 1958 , a company named IMAUTO , owned by Mr. Joao Mota Veiga Carvalho , and located at Rua(street) Salvador Correia de Sá , Luanda , Angola . Interesting that , yesterday , a friend confirmed me that Mr. Joao Carvalho is still alive , and travels frequently to Angola doing business ! I will try to post the early Land Cruiser picture , and another of the IMAUTO building , but I´m not sure if I will be able to do so . If I'm not able to post the 2 pictures I can send them to someone's mail so that everybody can see them .

Forgot to tell that the IMAUTO building is the corner building with the green windows , to the right , in the 2nd picture .

Old cruiser but not a 25 but a early 40. The rear wheel wells and the area behind the rear wheels are FJ40. The FJ25 had round wheel wells and the tub was shorter behind the rear wheels. Thank you for sharing we are always interest in the history of the early cruisers,FJ25 or FJ40.

Do you have or know anything more about IMAUTO or Mr. Joao Carvalho's life?

I love the truck but am not a big fan of "poser shots of dead animals with people/hunters".............., :meh: and yes I'm a hunter

X2 while I haven't hunted in years I'm not against it. Anymore just as happy to use a camera. Interesting the tire in he back. Can't tell of this was a second spare or the one that would be mounted on the right side.

that is odd... it is the high post hard top style and windshield has the channel for canvas... the only comaprison would be the one piece ones like the police pics i got... also notice that the door hinger are not body color ? and mirror arm?

i see no twists on the tub... and soft top windshield channel looks longer than an normal 25? hood to windshield hold downs?

a hard top converted to FST... or an attemt at it? ... driver does seem a bit upset :)

Looks like it may have been repainted, inside a lighter and bondo waving on drivers door? but yes hardtop originally, spare in rear.
